Hello. I'm not an active user here, but I have experience with using MediaWiki and I'm an admin at Brickimedia. I know this has no relevance, but I thought I'd just post it so it that I can show that I'm not a total noob :P
Anyways, I noticed this forum, that includes a section about finding a Chat system extension for MediaWiki. I would like to recommend MediaWikiChat, as chat system that includes avatar support (via SocialProfile), PM's, pings and also a kickban function (not sure if it would be needed here, though...)
