View source for Forum:CoD loadout system: Thoughts?

So, a new article at the Guardian says that 343i has a CoD-like loadout system in mind for Halo 4's multiplayer. I'd like to hear this community's thoughts on the matter. I, for one, think this is a terrible idea, because of how Halo's weapon system has always worked. Halo's multiplayer has always been based on everyone spawning with the same weapons, and finding the power weapons, a-la Quake 3. with this, you'd have people spawning with sniper rifles and BR's, or with SMG's and assault rifles, or, God forbid, something rediculous like a fuel rod cannon and a rocket launcher! How do you guys think this will affect the Halo multiplayer experience? :Well I don't think it's really a CoD like thing. We had loadouts in ''Halo: Reach'' that were customizable, but only for custom games and there was never a problem with that. To me, I don't think it's a bad idea at all. Just something new 343i wants to do.--{{User:Spartacus/Sig}}

You're new to this game, so I all you get is a M16 or something, and then here comes a dude with a .50 Barret, using it like an assault rifle on his way through. Also, the reason why CoD can do that is because they have a large variety of weapons, several assault rifles, submachine guns, light machine guns, and shotguns. Unless 343i will introduce a larger arsenal of weapons, this is a horrible idea that won't work. At best I'm optimistic about the idea, after 3 forays into multiplayer with the same basic weapon system, it might be nice to see 343 mix it up a little.  And I don't think they'll be as customizable as you guys might be thinking, it'll probebly be a hybrid of sorts, you can customize it if you wanna spawn with the assault rifle and/or battle rifle and/or magnum, etc. and there will probebly be power weapons on the map too. As long as they don't ruin the future of the franchise I'm up for some change.

In my opinion, this is a great idea. Now, obviously it won't be as customizable (at least, I hope it isn't), but it will give players a chance to make their fighting style more theirs. Like say, someone who is really good with the assault rifle could spawn with an Assault rifle, but say, no Magnum, or frag grenades, but extra assault rifle ammo. Same could apply to BR users, or those who love the Magnem(Like ME). I think it would put a new spin on multiplayer combat.Siphon 117 09:38, 20 March 2012 (EDT)

I think that it's about time that they did this. I've always liked the CoD loadout system better, despite the balance issues, simply because CoD's system is more fun.
