Firebreaks

The Firebreaks are a specialised unit of the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers responsible for the operation of close-ranged, heavy-duty and incendiary weapons like demolition charges, shotguns and the M7057 flamethrower. They operate as shock troops with the purpose of storming particular objectives.[1] In this regard they seem to be distinct from the ODST Hellbringers, who also use incendiary weapons but serve as specialists for nuclear, biological and chemical weapons. Similarly, where Hellbringers have specialised HAZMAT equipment, ODST Firebreaks seem to use regular ODST armor.

Halo: Flashpoint[edit]
ODST Firebreaks were introduced in Halo: Flashpoint in the Feet First Into Hell expansion. Firebreaks have two model variants, one equipped with an M7057 flamethrower and one with an M90 shotgun. The flamethrower comes with a new game keyword, Incendiary, while the shotgun has Lethal (1) firepower for precise attacks. These qualities make Firebreaks effective at close-quarters combat and objective modes like King of the Hill and Extraction.[1]
