Annex Ridge (location)

Annex Ridge was a Banished research facility established on Zeta Halo during the Battle for Zeta Halo. Its main purpose was to study, store and transport the mysterious totem rings scattered across the ring's surface. The Jiralhanae commander Zeretus was in charge of the outpost.[1]

Battle for Zeta Halo[edit]

During the Battle for Zeta Halo in 2560, the Banished leadership was convinced by studymaster Ciar 'Yaham and Dahk'rah to set up Annex Ridge,[2] where they could conduct research on the ring's artifacts.[3] At some point during the conflict, Spartans Rosado and M. Jaide detected signal spikes from Annex Ridge, and hijacked one of the Barukaza Workshop siege-haulers, which carried at least three totem rings.[1] They likely managed to escape with the siege-hauler, as the same transport was later reported as lost by the Banished commander Zeretus.[1]
In late May of 2560, John-117 discovered the outpost and attacked it in order to stop the Banished from learning more about Zeta Halo. He destroyed the facility's fuel silo, causing a chain reaction that destroyed a nearby Barukaza Workshop siege-hauler before it could transport several totem rings offsite.[4] Having left the outpost earlier to study a set of totem rings nearby, 'Yaham and Dahk'rah were spared from the Spartan's assault. Upon their return, the two recovered the data stored in the totem ring being studied in the outpost's lower pit — it contained a recording of the monitor 117649 Despondent Pyre musing over the ring's history. With UNSC forces gathering at the nearby FOB Kilo and moving towards the outpost, the two retreated from Annex Ridge to search for a new base of operations.[2]
