On [[2559#December|December 12, 2559]], "Doc" was onboard {{UNSCShip|Infinity}} when it was [[Battle over Installation 07|ambushed]] by [[Banished]] forces upon arrival at [[Installation 07]].{{Ref/Game|Id=ia4|HI|Audio log (Halo Infinite)#Infinity's Approach 2|UNSC Audio log|Detail=Infinity's Approach #04 - Arrival}} As the ''Infinity'' fell to the Banished assault, "Doc" was evacuated from the ship. At some point during the battle, "Doc" was captured by the Banished. He was taken to the [[House of Reckoning (location)|House of Reckoning]] in February 2560, after [[Battle of the Mortal Reverie|the Banished's assault]] on the wreckage of {{UNSCShip|Mortal Reverie}}. "Doc", along with [[Gunnery Sergeant]] [[Elena Bobrov]], [[Spartan-IV]] [[Terry Hedge]], and [[Singh (Installation 07)|Singh]], were forced to participate in the Trials of Atriox, a ritual devised by [[War Chief]] [[Escharum]] in which UNSC survivors were to defend a large room from multiple waves of Banished troops. If they survived, they would be fed food and water, only to go through the trial again on the next day.{{Ref/Reuse|tor}} "Doc" did not share his name—thus given the nickname of "Doc" by Singh and Hedge—and said he refused to take part in combat.
