Hello! As many of you may know, we will soon be making changes to our forums. A community discussion has already started here. As proposed by yours truly in the comments section of that forum, there needs to be a clear policy about forums. Why? Well a clear policy would inform users what is appropriate and inappropriate for a forum. I have laid out a few general ideas out below.

  • No advertising, spamming or soapbox content
  • Forums should be related to one or more of the following:
    • Related to the Halo Universe. In other words there shouldn't be forums talking about "what is the coolest weapon in Call of Duty?"
    • Important announcements, such as proposals
  • They should be easy to read and understand.

Of course this can be amended if need be.--Commander Spartacus (Tenth Roman Battalion) 17:02, 21 December 2011 (EST)

Please add any comments on what can be changed here, along with any opinions on this.

Also consider the rules for the three categories (or at least make separate rules for each category). :) — subtank 17:07, 21 December 2011 (EST)

Will do.--Commander Spartacus (Tenth Roman Battalion) 17:10, 21 December 2011 (EST)

I would add that forums should be at least a paragraph long or face deletion. I believe the old blog policy went similarly to this. This way, we can avoid things like; "Do you think this character/weapon/vehicle should be in (or should have been in) a particular Halo game."--The All-knowing Sith'ari 17:11, 21 December 2011 (EST)

I concur, if someone is going to create a forum, it has to be more than one sentence.--Commander Spartacus (Tenth Roman Battalion) 01:15, 22 December 2011 (EST)

Okay, so how about this?

  • Support Requests (for technical requests such as template fixing and what-not. A helpful place to learn wiki-coding)
    • No advertising.
    • Forum should be at least more than one sentence long.
    • Used for template fixing.
    • Requests to learn wiki-coding.
  • General Discussion (self-explanatory)
    • No advertising.
    • Content shouldn't ask if an item should have been in a particular video game.
    • Must be at least a paragraph long.
    • Must be related to the Halo Universe.
  • Community Proposal (to allow the community to propose policies and what-not).
    • No advertising.
    • Used to propose new policies
    • Should be an actual proposal.
    • Proposals should be legitimate ones, not asking if an apostrophe should be removed from an article.
  • Spamming, advertising, and soapbox content in any category will not be tolerated.
    • Any user found spamming or advertising in forums will be blocked.

Any thoughts on this?--Commander Spartacus (Tenth Roman Battalion) 12:27, 22 December 2011 (EST)
