Covenant army
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
The Covenant Army is the land warfare branch of the Covenant Empire. Primarily responsible for land-based military operation, the Army serves as the primary invasion force, and houses numerous Special Operations units.[1]
Overview
The Covenant Army comprises of the majority of the Covenant's ground-based infantry and units, and is tasked with engaging the enemies of the Covenant in ground and air combat. Primarily led by the Jiralhanae (and formerly by the Sangheili), the Army is comprised of mostly of Unggoy and Kig-yar species who act as infantry and whilst those infantries are considerably weaker than humans, the other Covenant races though less in number fare much better than the UNSC in combat situations. The presence of a Spartan however, can easily swing the tide of the battle in favour of the UNSC.
Because San 'Shyuum do not hold military ranks, no San 'Shyuum is truly a "member" of the Army. Instead, they command its Jiralhanae leaders as either a religious or militaristic tactician, who follow their orders and accomplish their objectives. Huragok, as primarily non-combatants, are also exempt from the Army.
