For the command center of a starship, see Bridge.
A human-made suspension bridge connecting two sections of the Uplift Nature Reserve.

A bridge is a structure built to span a physical obstacle such as a body of water, valley, or road, for the purpose of providing passage over the obstacle. More advanced version of a bridge include the energy bridge and the gravity conveyor.

Forerunner

There are multiple bridges that span across canyons on the Halo installations. There are different forms of bridges, with some are held up by unknown energy beams.

Energy bridges

Main article: Energy bridge

Energy Bridges are bridges made up of solid light.

In the Halo: Combat Evolved campaign, energy bridges are featured in the levels Halo and 343 Guilty Spark. In the campaign of Halo 3, they appear in the levels The Ark and The Covenant. They are also featured in several Halo Wars levels with a Forerunner setting, including Beachhead and Terminal Moraine.[1]

Causeways

An example of a Forerunner bridge.

Causeways are bridges built to span large canyons. They are supported by lighted cables attached to each canyon's hedges. They also have supports much like that of a truss arch bridge.

Causeways appear in a diversity of designs. Most commonly, the causeway will have two levels. They have also been observed with one level, or three levels. On Installation 04, many causeways featured two levels, with glass floors on both levels. The glass floors on the top level were breakable, allowing one to drop down to the bottom level of the causeway. The bottom levels glass floors featured impenetrable glass. There are also many nooks and crannies where enemies can hide and take cover.

In Halo: Combat Evolved, causeway-type bridges appear in the campaign levels Assault on the Control Room and Two Betrayals, and Gephyrophobia in multiplayer. In Halo 3, the multiplayer map Narrows is set on a type of causeway.
