Tayari Plaza moments after the Slipspace event.

Tayari Plaza is an area located on the main island of New Mombasa, Kenya.

The plaza itself is considerably lower than the outer edges, which contain streets and walkways. The area is surrounded by buildings.

History

After the catastrophic Slipspace event that nearly obliterated New Mombasa and thwarted an ODST group's attempted orbital insertion on October 20, 2552, Captain Dare's drop pod was knocked off course and crashed at this area at high speed. The impact damaged her drop pod which prevented Captain Dare from exiting it. Being stuck on her pod [Captain (Navy)|Captain]] Dare called on Gunnery Sergeant Edward Buck to rescue her, however Convent troops moved in on the pod and Captain Dare managed to force her way out of the pod (although the door became closed afterwards) and escaped the area.

After fighting alongside Marines to get to Tayari Plaza Buck managed to find Dare's pod which was being fired apon by Grunts. After killing the Grunts Buck opened Dare's pod to find it empty and assumed [Captain (Navy)|Captain]] Dare was killed or captured. A Huragok appears near to Buck which he believes is hostile and falls over, however Romeo appears and kills the Huragok with his sniper rifle. Not knowing the objective of their mission Buck and Romeo leave find an exit to the city.

Several hours later the Rookie discovered Dare's helmet in a building overlooking the plaza.

Trivia

• The Firefight map Crater takes place at this plaza.
• Like most locations in the Halo-verse's New Mombasa, Tayari is an actual neighbourhood in modern-day Mombasa, located in the very center of the city.
