Peter Bonifacio was a citizen of The Rubble and one of the nine security council members tasked with the defense of The Rubble. He had been a well-known smuggler prior to the war, causing many to wonder how he had secured his seat on the council.
He met Ignatio Delgado, and was very interested in a datapad that the Rubble Security Council had asked Ignatio to look after. This data pad contained navigation data with all known worlds and routes that humanity had populated and traveled. He knew about the Exodus Project and also liked Sweet William Cigars[1], so much that he had them smuggled in on his ship the Kestrel (Ship) before it was fried by the Spartan-II Grey Team. Peter was also the first person on The Rubble to communicate with the Kig-yar. He had several henchmen under his command, such as Owen, and many ships, but eventually he lost all of these due to UNSC crackdowns and the actions of Grey Team.
During the events of the Battle of the Rubble, he betrayed the Rubble for the coordinates of Earth to gain a profit from the Jackals. After shooting another member of the Council, Diego Esquival, he left Diego and Delgado for dead in an airlock, and made off with the data in Delgado's ship, the Distancia. He was however stopped by Adriana, who let him leave his ship in an escape pod in exchange for the location of the navigation data which he had hidden on the ship. Reth later left him to die after Peter told him that he gave the datapad away, claiming Peter was of no use to him now, and that he was doing Bonifacio a favor by not picking him up. Although Bonifacio may not have believed that, ironically it was the truth, considering how Covenant never took prisoners and how they treated them on the rare occasions that they did. Later, while still in his escape pod, a Covenant Cruiser appeared in the system. After he foolishly attempted to communicate with them, hoping to find rescue, the Covenant fired upon him, thus killing him. The Covenant ship then plowed through the remains of the pod as it adjusted its orbit.
