My Article

Dear Subtank,

I understand why you would rather me add the article I created (red vs blue PSA's) to an existing article. What I do not understand is why I recived no warning of the page being deleted, and why I now have to spend another hour re-writing what I have already written. Could you not have given me a chance to transfer the information before you deleted it. With this in mind, I will re-create the page, and then transfer what I have written onto the main red vs blue page. Until I have done this, please do not delete the page again.

Regards - User:SargeD17

Problem reports

Hi Subtank,

I've noticed you use the report a problem feature rather frequently, which is great, but there are a number of templates you should be placing on articles instead of using this feature.

To propose a merge, use {{merge|pagetomergewith}}. If you dispute the facts of the article, use {{FOF-1}}. If you think the article should be deleted, use {{delete|reasontodelete}}.

76.179.151.163- Subtank, I know you probably won't believe this, but I was testing all administrators to see if they actually do something or sit there and look threateningly down on you. This said, I would greatly appreciate it if you would restore my editing permission for HaloFanon. I would like to continue developing my work. Seeing now that administrators actually do do something, I will "behave". Please respond. Thank you.

Dear Subtank, Don't you think that if epilogue and boundless get there own pages then shouldn't onslaught and amplified get their own sections or subsections on Foundry's page. Heck they should even get there own pages but I'm not worried about that right now. I just think there is not enough information about these popular foundry variants when there should be a sufficient amount. Your better at creating stuff like this than me so it would be cool if you did it.

thanks,

P.S. I only wrote this because you deleted my subsections for these variants and i figured you could create them better.

Keep it up!

Dear Subtank,

I've been noticing your Halo 3 contributions. =] Continue the good work!

Woah. That is the coolest page I have ever come across. I like your idea of creating a "fictional" character/Monitor and using it as an identity. It just so happens I created a fictional charcter also : ElaborateAbsence :).

Deleting duplicates

Unless there's a huge difference in the name, we don't delete duplicates... instead we redirect them. As anyone could type in "shadow of intent" instead of "Shadow of Intent," I've redirect Shadow of intent (the first letter's capitalized automatically) to Shadow of Intent, so everyone should go to the right place. =D Guesty-Persony-Thingy 18:02, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

My Article

Recently, you posted in my article UNSCTTP://EPWW:COLEPROTOCOL/Virtualscav/fbr.091 that it did not meet wiki standards. I would love to fix it, but I am not that familliar with these guidlines. I was wondering if you could point out what you spotted that was wrong. This would be of great help, as it would let me be more accurate when writing my next article. In addition, could you check out my other new article, Viral Data Scavengers, and let me know if anything is wrong with this as well?

Interview!!

Hello, Subtank. First of all, I would like to tell you that I have gained Rollback Rights here on Halopedia, and that I have been promoted to Honor Guard Elite in the Covenant of Halopedia. But that is irrelevant. I am here to ask you a couple questions, nothing personal, of course.

  1. What is it like being an admin?
  2. Do you feel any different being an admin that you felt being a normal user? For example, do you feel a certain distance from other users? Do you feel as is you have lost some of the familiarity?
  3. Were you shocked when your own RfA was opened? How did you feel?

I hope those questions weren't too intrusive and/or personal! Now, let's be straight and truthful with each other. I believe that you are a very kind, honest user who is very decent and mature. You are a great vandal fighter, and a great veteran Halopedian. However, sometimes you are a little too nice, and you don't show your emotions much. What is your opinion of me?

With regards, hoping you are well, please reply on my Talk Page, — Lt. Commander Kouger 04:54, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

NavBox

"Dear Manticore,

This message is about the NavBox Collapsible Feature in Halopedia. I've went through every templates we have in Halopedia and noticed that most of them have the Collapsible Tag in them but the feature is not present when the template is viewed.

I then compared the codings to HaloFanon's. It works in HaloFanon but not in Halopedia. Is it a normal technical error in Halopedia?"

It needs to be defined, which I've now done. Can you check and see if it's working? (you'll have to clear the cache for the page) — Manticore [ AdminIRCHOTMBot ] 07:31, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

"Dear Manticore,

I've checked every templates that utilise the Collapsible Feature and tested them with Safari, Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. None worked. I believe Halopedia's MediaWiki system needs to be updated, though I don't know which one... (common.js, monobook.js, etc).

The weird thing is that, like I said before in the previous message, the feature works in HaloFanon. I'll try run comparison tests between all MediaWiki."

I modified common.js - it may just take some time to take effect. — Manticore [ AdminIRCHOTMBot ] 03:22, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, sorry about that...clearly not thinking straight. I did what I meant to do the next edit. However, it'd be nice to save the rollback to vandal edits and use undo, explaining why. The 888th Avatar (Talk) 09:39, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

Hmmm, I know you're a bit short of time, but still, I disagree. This wiki could also appoint more admins, the wiki has a surprisingly small number of them when considering the number of users there are. When undoing edits I always provide a reason, unless it is vandalism. Wikia says you should, in the name of courtesy and making it easier for other users viewing RC to see why the edit was undone. But still, you don't have to follow this, it's just a tip. The 888th Avatar (Talk) 10:08, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
I just had a look at the list of users, it's more than 10% (I raised my eyebrows at that), but it's still relatively small. :) But of course, how you use edit summary is your choice. The 888th Avatar (Talk) 10:32, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

Arbiter:

It's already on the discussion page, and is already ignored by the admins. The argument is simple: No source confirms that Thel Vadam ever achieved the rank of Supreme Commander (Admiral) of the Fleet of Particular Justice. One source mentions that he becomes a Shipmaster (Captain) within the Fleet. I've checked the book, Halo: The Cole Protocol. I've read the Author's blog. I've checked the new Halo Wars Timeline. However, no known link exists. The only proof that exists is that The Arbiter and Thel Vadam happened to serve in the same fleet with different ranks at different times.

The Counterargument is equally simple: "It's already here so it has to be true." "10 admins haven't killed it yet." "Why would they mention the fleet if you aren't supposed to jump to conclusions?"

The idea that the two are the same character is popular speculation. Is it possible? Sure. Is it confirmed? Not remotely. SinisterSamurai 19:56, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

First of all, he's not present during the events of Halo Wars. That information only applies to the other Arbiter. Secondly, Halo: The Cole Protocol is considered faulty in terms of details. The novel suffers various problems because of the new author's style of writing: The Novel did not address which month or day each event took place, thus Halopedia has to investigate, analyse and make assumptions to cover the errors of the novel, The Novel contradicts the previous established canon made by other novels. This, however, is excusable as Bungie fails to update its Halo Universe from time to time. Thirdly, based on the evidences showed by users who already obtained the novel, it seems that Thel Vadam is the Arbiter in the events of Halo 2 and Halo 3. So, setting up a formula >> Tons of Evidence + Positive Reinforcement of Assumptions = It must be true unless Bungie says otherwise. Coincidence occurs rarely. Here's a suggestion, start a thread in Bungie.net and grab the Staff's attention. Such grave issue should capture their attention...-5ub7ank(7alk) 20:10, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
What "tons of evidence" do you speak of? Again, there is one support: The FoPJ link. And just as many users have been against the assumption as have been for it, so it's positive and negative reinforcement of assumption. And the biggest positive is "Halopedia is a wiki so it can't be wrong." Inconsistencies with TCP would be reasons to discount the theory, not support it.
"This, however, is excusable as Bungie fails to update its Halo Universe from time to time."
— What I said previously So far, there is no evidence which oppose the current fact, thus making the current fact as a valid point. Unless you manage to support your claim that the Arbiter is not Thel' Vadam, the article stays as it is. P.S. I don't have the novel and not planning on buying it. I suggest talking to Forerunner about this issue.-5ub7ank(7alk) 21:03, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

I have this Pop-up thing when I log on, and the links rickroll me. Why is this happening?

Gravity and Magnets (Science of Halo)

I noticed that you reverted my edit on the "Antigravity plate" described in 'Ghost of Onyx', so I thought I should probably explain the changes and why they were made. The changes I made were intended to make the entry more scientifically accurate. To explain this in better detail, I've broken down the inaccuracies point for point. BTW if you are interested in the science behind science fiction, I highly recommend this book >http://www.randomhouse.com/catalog/display.pperl?isbn=9780385520690

1. "The Antigravity Plate was a technology invented by the UNSC. It was designed to create artificial gravity for the UNSC's Fleet of ships."

This is a contradiction in terms. An ANTIgravity plate could not possibly generate *gravity*. Gravity attracts matter, antigravity would repel it: they are polar opposites. The book never actually says they were used to generate "gravity", instead it says the reverse by calling it an "antigrav plate". I think the confusion comes from the fact that it generated "10 gs" of force, which fooled the Spartan's pressure sensors. But in reality this could have been from the beam pushing them into the floor from above, rather than below, which would have the same effect. I would assume that if it generated a pulling, or attracting force, it would simply be called a gravity plate.

2. "As of 2531, it was old technology, and they never quite panned out, but some were still around. What exactly they were intended to be used for was never specifically stated, but it is possible that they were to be used to lift heavy ordinance by causing it to float, lifting it up, and making it levitate for easy transport."

This matches the novel, but contradicts the statements made in point 1. Here an *antigravity* device is described, yet other parts of the article describe a *gravity* generator.

3. "It is likely that they were based on the use of electromagnetism rather than actual gravity (all objects have magnetic attraction, but most are very weak. A powerful enough electromagnet could function as a pseudo-gravity generator), given the surprise of the UNSC to find true artificial gravity technology on the first Covenant ship they boarded."

This is not likely at all for numerous reasons, and this shows a lack of understanding regarding magnets. For one, if it was simply an extremely powerful magnet, I imagine the author would simply call it a magnet. Depending on the polarity, a magnet can attract or repel, making it hard to understand why it would be called an "antigrav" plate. All objects do not have magnetic attraction, and diamagnets (like water) and paramagnets only acquire magnetic properties with the presence of an external electromagnetic field. The other problem here is that humans would be diamagnetic, meaning a *very* powerful superconductor would make us levitate, in other words it would do the opposite of what gravity does! So hey there you go, that's what the they mean by "antigrav" right? Let's not forget it's still a magnet, and a magnet that powerful would likely rip ear rings out of people ears and pull guns out of people hands, fry any electrical device and otherwise cause great harm. Simply put this type of device would be useless for generating any kind of "gravity" or "antigravity" inside anything other than an all plastic ship with people wearing entirely non-metalic objects.

The reality is that if something were to generate actual gravity in a beam (as shown in the games and describe in the book) it would have to somehow produce gravitons (the hypothetical particle of gravity) or alternately "antigravitons". Scientists expect gravitons to exist, but we currently don't know how to "see" them, let alone create them. If we are given another 500 years, it's possible we may eventually figure out how to generate gravitons in a directed beam, but for now it's like cavmen trying to build an airplane.

Regarding gravitons> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graviton

http://curious.astro.cornell.edu/question.php?number=535

So I hope you will reconsider my edit and see that it was grounded in the terminology used in the books as well as a basic understanding of real life science.

Thank you and have a great day

Reverting your edits on McFarlane Toys

Dear Avatar_of_Chaos

I apologise for reverting your edits on the mentioned article. The main reason is organisation. This wiki has suffered enough messy articles with no categorisation whatsoever in the past and we're trying to prevent that to our best ability. If you keen on making those articles, I suggest merging them in one massive article like what the article has already.-5ub7ank(7alk) 15:57, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Then why not categorize them beyond just "real life" and revamp the entire Action Figures section? That's part of my intent and since I'm particularly well-versed with the McFarlane figures I was hoping to use it as a template for how we might handle things. These are particularly notable given that the figure line now covers Halo 3, Halo Wars and ODST.

I've seen the number of total figures and total articles and lack of organization and I'd like to help fix that because when it comes to some of the merchandise and non-media Halo products the information that we do have is sorely lacking. I simply followed the existing practice of breaking them up by Series.

Rather than have individual pages for each figure I think that the best option is by Series or Major Product category rather than just lumping it all into one article since McFarlane Toys has already produced too much product to make that feasible, in my opinion.

Thoughts? --Avatar of Chaos 16:53, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Halo: Spartan Black inconsistency

PLEASE unlock the Halo: Spartan Black page because of an inaccuracy. The cover shows four Spartans, clad in Mark VI armor, when this is supposed to take place BEFORE the Battle of Reach. Before the Battle of Reach, Spartans had the Mark IV armor, and right before the Covenant invasion, were issued the Mark V. This is an inaccuracy overlooked by Marvel, and STRONGLY urge you with best speed to email the editors at Marvel. I already did though, but I just want it to be known strongly to them to revise that immediately.

First of all, the story is under production, thus it is possible that Black Team (the team mentioned in the novel) is one of the armour testers similar to Maria-062. Secondly, all we know for now are speculations based on the art posted by Marvel. Lastly, do note that Bungie is supervising the comic production, thus possibly adding new canon to the Halo Universe, not ignoring them.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 05:48, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
Alright, if you insist. I'm a die-hard Halo fan, you see, and want things to be as canon as it could be. Not that I don't mind non-canon, but I don't want non-canon to be directly tied into canon, then I think it ruins the value of what really happened.
Read this then... User:CommanderTony/Sig
Firstly, always sign in using the 4 tildes as so ~~~~. Secondly, almost everyone in Halopedia is a die-hard fan (I'm just a fan...). Thirdly, we cannot speculate if we don't have the proper sources to support it, that's why we didn't include the Armour Inconsistency.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 19:40, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

MoS

I don't know if you saw my comment way down at the bottom of your blog about MoS but I was wondering if you could put something in the MoS about all the crazy linking going on? Something along the lines of the style guideline over at Wikipedia would be fine. It would make my life easier when I go around and try to disambig pages. Whispering 08:04, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

I will add it in my next update (coming in a few days).- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 11:54, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

MOS question

Why are the Advantages and Disadvantages of a weapon supposed to be subcategories of Design Details?

I could see certain advantages of the design (like using HE bullets or operating on some principle), but advantages and disadvantages of the weapon as compared to another weapon seem to warrant separate sections below Design Details.

Could you perhaps clarify? -- Nutarama 22:48, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

I can't really clarify why as the idea came from a Wikipedian friend of mine. However, judging from our articles, the advantages and disadvantages of weapon is to detail the flaws of the accuracy, ammunition, and/or design (like what you stated). That said, the main idea of these subcategories is to point out the main flaws of the weapon, not to compare with other weapons. I couldn't be any clearer. If the current response doesn't seem to answer your question, I apologise and will review the matter.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 06:50, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Could there also be a section on damage of something similar? Several articles, such as the M6D Personal Defense Weapon System, take up quite a bit of space saying how many shots are needed to kill an enemy. This usually appears in the Advantages or Disadvantages section, but without a baseline to compare it to, the information doesn't seem to be an advantage of disadvantage (is 18-24 headshots to kill an Elite Zealot with the M6D good, bad, or indifferent? I can't tell).
Ah, for that matter, such information should be discarded as that information belongs to HaloWiki.Net. What is meant to be in advantages and disadvantages are, like I said before, flaws of accuracy, use of ammunition and/or design. Such information about how many kills is needed should be in the Tactics section.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 14:16, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Why do you keep reverting my changes to the Ark? The thing you're reverting it to isn't even correct. Lordaerun 22:42, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

First of all, I did't revert your changes. All I did was trimming the article down to Wiki Standards as pointed out in Project MOS. I only change the layout of the article and moved your sentences to the first paragraph of the article. Thus, if what I did is incorrect (As stated, I only moved and trimmed), technically, that would be your fault. :P - 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 22:47, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

You did revert. I did various things, including changing the statement that EVA unlocks on Legendary. When you changed it, it was back to saying that. You obviously reverted. Lordaerun 22:57, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Firstly, ....................... Secondly, have you read our announcement on official format for articles? If not, please read Halopedia's official format. How is fixing incorrect information "silly and redundant trivia? "Beating this level on Legendary unlocks the E.V.A. shoulder pads.". Is now in the article. YOU are the one that changed my edit and put it back in. EVA unlocks on Normal, not Legendary.

Character Infobox

The coding does actually work (see link)... However, it does not seem to be compatible with Halopedia. The coding overall, is better than the current, as it is far less complex and you can edit it easily.-- Forerunner 15:55, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Halopedia has an odd mediawiki "system". For example, our "collapsible" feature is absent from the system but when tested on other wikis, it works. I've asked Wiki Staff (and Manticore) to look into this matter, so don't worry. :) Oh, and I think the current template looks nicer. :P - 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 15:59, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Beta Pages

Why is the Halo: Reach Beta page "Unneeded" if we have a page for the Halo 3 Beta? ~Epeu

Hello?

It's been a few days and you haven't answered my question. Why is the Halo: Reach Beta page "Unneeded" (in your words) if we have a page for the Halo 3 Beta? ~Epeu

Because there is no source to verify its existence, other than what Staten told in E3. If there is a valid source to verify its existence, then it stays.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 17:29, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Drone Leader

Why did you delete the drone leader page??? They are clearly a distinct rank from both Drone Minors and Drone Majors. The Minors are green, with no shields at all, and they wear plasma pistols. Drone Majors are yellow, blue and silver, with very, very weak energy shields, and they wear plasma pistols/needlers. Drone Leaders are red/gold, with strong energy shields and brute plasma rifles. They are clearly higher rank than Majors, but the drone leader is the only official name they've been given, and they're clearly higher rank than majors. Please, re-create the page, I spent too much time creating the page last night, for some vandal to delete it

And it exists outside of firefight, haven't you played campaign? The Drone leader is the only official term that has been given, please re-create the page again.

Because, even if it is a different Rank, it is still a DRONE. Sort of like that Second Flood War thingy, I mean honestly? I'll just let that tail off.

One other thing. Subtank is NOT a vandal. If she were, would she be an admin?? No. she deletes Articles that have no :use. It's her duty as admin. We are dropping into Hell troopers, cause you forgot to pray to God! 20:29, October 1, 2009 (UTC)

I don't want to be a bother, but other Covenant species have rank specific pages dedicated to them (even Drone Major/Minor) is there a reason the "Leader" rank would not constitute something in need of an article? Kalicokaiju 06:09, October 3, 2009 (UTC)

Exactly, why are there Drone Minor and Drone Major pages? The Drone Leaders are new ranks, why delete them? 81.232.69.135 15:14, October 9, 2009 (UTC)

Those are not official titles. Those are named by fans. Until we have an official source, it stays deleted.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 15:22, October 9, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the source. Now, let's analyse the image. Notice it is divided into 4 sections (Infantry, Specialist, Leader and Hero). Now, let's see where the drone is placed. Infantry and Leader. Hmm.... this seems to show that there are only two ranks. Hmm.... now let's see the other species. Brute Minor/Major, Brute Stalker, Brute Captain, Brute Chieftain. Hmm... if I am correct, the Brute Captain is in the Leader. Seeing that the Brutes had their ranks listed out throughout the 4 sections, I think the Drone listed in the Leader section is a Drone Major. Thus, there is no such thing as a Drone Leader.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 22:24, October 11, 2009 (UTC)
Ok, I like the grouping of minor/major ranks into the infantry group, but wouldn't that mean the Drone Minor/Major would be grouped into that infantry group as well. You also suggested the Brute captains were put in the leader group, I looked and that seems to be the case, so couldn't it be possible that Drone Leaders could be Drone "Captains", this is just a suggestion, and could possibly start a whole new discussion, but I think a Drone Captain rank might make more sense than a Drone Leader rank.Field Master Spartansniper450 23:27, October 11, 2009 (UTC)
It would make more sense but it's not official. Also, Drones are insects and acts similar like a bee or wasp and like insect, they have a hierarch: Workers, Engineers, Soldiers (two ranks: Minor and Major to show maturity. See Talk: Yanme'e), Drone Queen and possibly a Drone King. So, it would unlikely for them to have a Drone Captain... seeing that they all receive orders from the Drone Queen (which is probably under the control of the three Prophets.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 23:35, October 11, 2009 (UTC)
Just a thought wouldn't, if we were using the wasp terminology where fertile males are called "Drones", wouldn't a Drone king be called a Drone drone? ~ ~ ~ ~ 01:24, November 7, 2009 (UTC)

My User Page

If you have any time, could you please help me with my userpage? It has been acting up, and lately, the sidebar has been coming onto my userpage, making it almost impossible to edit (it covers the button up). I've already had Nicmavr have a go, but he couldn't get to the edit button :/

If you do somehow manage to get to the Edit button, then I should tell you that the problem lies somewhere with the banner on the top of my page. The </div> at the end does not work, and as a result, makes the box go around everything.

If you could help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

Forge Objects

I'm fairly certain that my draft is complete... That is to say, while some costs and maxes are missing, the items themselves are present. Problem is, the page is huge -- takes a while to load, takes a while to edit, and it takes a lotta RAM even after it's loaded... I'd suggest breaking it into subpages by category (e.x. Forge Objects/Scenery), but I don't want to make the change (to the draft) without your approval. I also don't want to transfer the draft onto the official Forge Objects page until a decision (approve/deny) is made on whether or not it should be broken into separate lists.

If it is broken into separate lists, the main page can serve as an explanation of how to read the lists (grey cells mean an item isn't on that map; the text at the top is a description, at the bottom is a protip; etc.).

Please see Talk:Forge Objects; it would probably be good to continue the discussion there. DavidJCobb Emblem.svg DavidJCobb  22:32, September 2, 2009 (UTC)

An Attempt to Help

Well I may possibly be the worst template programer ever, but I may be able to offer a possibility on how to fix it. Instead of using the : thing to move the stub template to the middle of the page, you may be able to use additional coding to set the template to center. If it stays at the top of the page, then theoretically the template should work again without any problems. Hope this helps. ~Blade bane ~ Anti-Vandal~ 10:30, September 8, 2009 (UTC)Blade bane

That would just make an article with the template ugly (in terms of format and display). What you should also consider is why the Main redirect template is not broken like the Stub template, seeing that both utilise ":". But thanks for the idea.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 10:35, September 8, 2009 (UTC)
Hmm. That is very strange. I would only be able to guess; and again I am a terrible programmer, that something is wrong with the span style. If you can not find the direct solution to this, you may have to ask wiki staff and ask if any changes have been made to the span class coding. If no solution can be reached whatsoever, you may also be able to put the template in a box, but this will undoubtedly make the template look hideous.

Issues with Ajax and bans

I was trying to edit a page on Halo Fanon a few minutes ago, and it gave me this:

You do not have permission to edit this page, for the following reason: Your IP address has been automatically blocked because it was used by another user, who was blocked by Ajax 013. The reason given is this: Autoblocked because your IP address has been recently used by "Sona 'Demal". The reason given for Sona 'Demal's block is: "Suspected of vandalism / sock (Subs, talk to me first)" Start of block: 02:39, September 10, 2009 Expiry of block: 01:05, September 11, 2009 Intended blockee: 68.97.54.2 You may contact Ajax 013 or one of the other administrators to discuss the block. Note that you may not use the "e-mail this user" feature unless you have a valid e-mail address registered in your user preferences and you have not been blocked from using it. Your current IP address is 68.97.54.2, and the block ID is #3570. Please include all above details in any queries you make.

From the look of it, one of Ajax's bans screwed up and also banned me. Can you please fix this because I am NOT "Sona 'Demal" and I have not been involved in any vandalism or sockpuppetry. Also, you wouldn't happen to have any idea how Sona 'Demal was able to use my IP address when he clearly has no access to my computer. There is no other person who uses Halo Fanon that I have met face to face. SPARTAN 119 03:14, September 10, 2009 (UTC)

IP addresses are temporary -- it's MAC addresses that are (mostly) permanent. What this means is that you could've ended up using this guy's IP address, if he or you were either using the same proxy or were connected to the same router/hub/etc.. Like, if you and he used computers on the same street (or otherwise nearby), for example, then you may have ended up getting his IP.
Alternatively, you could be lying right now. That's also a possibility. DavidJCobb Emblem.svg DavidJCobb  19:48, September 10, 2009 (UTC)

Template parameters. Let's say you want to merge OTHERPAGE into PAGE; then, you'd put this on OTHERPAGE.
{{Merge|PAGE}}
You can also add something to PAGE:
{{MergeFrom|OTHERPAGE}}
That'll display a message saying that OTHERPAGE should be merged into the current page. DavidJCobb Emblem.svg DavidJCobb  19:24, September 12, 2009 (UTC)

Help with HSW?

So Mator and I have been working on the Halo Stunting Wiki, and we've become aware of the fact that not all things can be verified with traditional sources (or even the semi-traditional ones, like YouTube videos). In particular, the history of stunts and the stunting community isn't citeable, as it wasn't recorded at the time or by a large number of sources -- it's not common knowledge... Only way to find sources would be to make them, and that wouldn't exactly be credible... ("Oh, he made that source just so he could cite it! That's reliable!")

To that end, we thought of a system to solve this problem, and we figured that your advice on the matter would be invaluable. Here's a link to a draft of the system. Is it too restrictive? Not too restrictive enough? Altogether terrible? (It may be all three at the same time...) DavidJCobb Emblem.svg DavidJCobb  02:54, November 14, 2009 (UTC)

I recommend reviewing other wikis' methods of citing, such as the one we have in Halopedia.Hint: Copy and Paste Additionally, I have two question on the Expert list; why does the wiki require such list and is it similar to HOTM (Halopedian) and WOTM (Wikipedian... I think it exist)?- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 11:59, November 14, 2009 (UTC)
Do you mean that I should copy and paste review Help:Ref?
The Expert idea comes from the fact that some things aren't evident from common sense, can't be reliably cited, can't be proven through logic, etc.. The history of several common stunts and of the stunting community are examples of this: these things weren't recorded when they happened, so... The only ways to document/cite such things would be:
  • Don't document them.
  • Create sources for them.
    • There's also the fact that even if someone unconnected to the wiki documented these things, we'd still have to be able to prove that they're trustworthy in order to cite the documentation, so we'd need something like this Expert system anyway.
  • Cite an expert -- someone who is intimately familiar with stunts.
As for the usage of a list... Basically, Experts would be an absolute last resort -- they'd be sources with about the same amount of validity and credibility as actual proof (such as YouTube videos of stunts). Due to the level of trust given to Experts, a very high degree of exclusivity would be needed to prevent abuse. (As in, we'd almost literally accept only the Einsteins and the Newtons and the Norrises of stunting. There'd be tests on stunting competency and maybe even a kind of "background check", where they have to prove how long they've been stunting.) We wouldn't let just anyone become an Expert, as that could lead to the following kinds of citations:
Walking into a Banshee at the exact right angle and speed will cause a player to drop dead instantly and inexplicably, and their neck will stretch to over nine thousand feet in length.<ref>Frederick Andrew Keith-Enderson (expert)</ref>
So... Decent idea? Bad idea? Worse idea? DavidJCobb Emblem.svg DavidJCobb  02:34, November 15, 2009 (UTC)
Yes... you should review the help page. :P
Hmm, I guess it could be a decent/bad idea... all depends on how good/bad the Expert is.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 11:18, November 15, 2009 (UTC)
Well, thanks for your help :D DavidJCobb Emblem.svg DavidJCobb  19:58, November 15, 2009 (UTC)
An additional check/balance which could/would be added to the system would be for all experts to examine what is said by their fellow experts. This way, it is a collaborative effort to document that which has only been passed down "in lore." And the distortion of facts is minimized, if not completely removed. Why change the D77-TC trivia?

If you read the talk page for the D77, you'll see the theories explaining the principles at work on the Pelican. The theories make perfect sense, and if they don't then I'm missing something here. Similarities

Do you not think it worthwhile to mention some examples of how things in the Halo Universe may be based off of modern day models? This would give viewers something real to read about and possibly help them associate better with the Halo Universe and its many components. I understand that, for the most part, this is pure speculation. But if you look on many other pages, you see most people do not know for sure whether or not what they say is completely true. They put it out there as a theory, and that's part of the fun in editing these things. We get to put our own ideas out there (provided they are not ridiculous or implausible) for others to see and build off of. Removing all these edits seems like censorship on your part. File:1210810634 Gfs 63166 2 16.jpg  ΘяɪɸɴF22    Me    Talk    Contributions    CAG   14:19, December 2, 2009 (UTC)

"I understand that, for the most part, this is pure speculation."
— Your statement
Again, they're speculations and have no grounds in Halopedia unless supported with evidences. Similarities with realworld applications should be avoided as almost everything in the Halo Universe is inspired by something in the present-day/world. The Ma5B is similar to the FN2000, the Longsword is similar to the B2 Bomber, the Warthog is similar to the Hummer, the UNSC military system is similar to the US military system. Everything is similar to something in the realworld! Theories are okay as long as they are related to the article with some exception.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 14:33, December 2, 2009 (UTC)

Mood swings are illogical. They only make things worse. If everything is similar to the real world, I do not know why these similarities should not be mentioned, at least in the trivia. This site, in my opinion, is a collection of known facts about the Halo Universe but is also home to a wide variety of speculation and theorizing. I'm attempting to build a connection to something from the real world so that people could go read the external links and read for themselves what it's all about. In this case, they could go learn about the Maverick, which may lead them to read about other components of aerial warfare. I understand that is not the purpose of this site, but it does provide education to those who seem to have little (hence the poor grammar in some editing). File:1210810634 Gfs 63166 2 16.jpg  ΘяɪɸɴF22    Me    Talk    Contributions    CAG   14:38, December 2, 2009 (UTC)

Poor Grammar can be forgiven. Making a minor mistake such as grammar errors is part of the learning process. Speculations without any evidence have no place in Halopedia, ever. Without any evidence, we cannot say this is similar to this, even if the description is similar but not identical. This site, in my opinion, is a collection of known facts about the Halo Universe but is also home to a wide variety of speculation and theorizing - Yes, this is indeed true but these speculations are backed up with evidence from novels and other official media of the Halo Universe, thus allowed. This is also to avoid from opening the floodgates. - 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 14:53, December 2, 2009 (UTC)
Oh, shrink the image to 25px. Signature Policy.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 14:55, December 2, 2009 (UTC)

I agree with you in that evidence should be cited, rather than just making a guess or putting it apples to apples. However, if you go to the LAU-65D/SGM-151 page, you'll see that the last trivia excerpt is basically the same kind of speculation I've been making. No evidence is cited; the fact is there because the Missile Pod really does act like the Javelin, much the same as the Lancer would act as a Maverick. Future or not, an air launched, ground directed missile would still act in the same way as AGMs of modern day. As for the Pelican, its theory here, because if you study lifting body principles, as well as many other aerodynamical research studies, you will see that this is indeed a very real possibility for the Pelican. Perhaps all theories (lifting body and powerful propulsion) are correct. But they should still be mentioned, and the evidence exists on Wikipedia, on the lifting body page. I'd try and draw an image for you explaining how the air flow across the Pelican's fuselage works, but I'm not good at that kind of stuff. File:1210810634 Gfs 63166 2 16.jpg  ΘяɪɸɴF22    Me    Talk    Contributions    CAG   15:22, December 2, 2009 (UTC)

Removed. The FGM-148 can only be launched individually (hence the F) where as the LAU/SGM-151 can be launched either via air, silo-launched, underwater or in space (hence the LAU and S). The G denotes that it is used for surface attacks and the M denotes that it is part of the Guided-Missiles/Drone-fired family. The Missile Pod firing system is similar like all realworld guided-missile firing system but it is not identical. I'm no physicist but please do supply an image of the aerodynamics of the Pelican.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 16:02, December 2, 2009 (UTC)

Fortunately, I know two physics majors, in addition to an aerospace engineer. I'll get an explanation from one or all of them, and do my best to supply you with a picture. Note, it would be a side-view demonstrating the difference in pressures created when air passes over the fuselage. Simplistic, yes, but that's how a lifting body works. You keep wiping the talk page though.--Sandor051 18:34, December 15, 2009 (UTC)

Because it is irrelevant to the article. People keep trying to notify the community that Jorge-052 sounds British. Why is that so important? Sense of nationalism? Sense of pride? Sense of patriotism? We don't practise that in Halopedia. It is idiotic and complete nonsense. Unless it is a whole different case, it stays deleted.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 19:06, December 15, 2009 (UTC)

It's notable. That would be why. And irrelevant of what you think, wiping the talk page is baffling. Because it would be the perfect place to discuss this. --Sandor051 21:07, December 15, 2009 (UTC)

I agree with Sandor. Wiping the talk page is pointless and appears reminiscent of the Cold War days when Russia blamed all it's failures on something impossible and then erased all pertinent evidence. Out of that, only the erasing of evidence applies here. The talk page should be kept as a record of debated materials. There's bound to be someone who will come along later thinking to put some tidbit in a page that has already been agreed upon as irrelevant. Except this fellow wouldn't know that, since the talk page is empty.
File:Gunnery Sergeant.png  ΘяɪɸɴF22    Me    Talk    Contributions    CAG   21:11, December 15, 2009 (UTC)
Actually, it's not notable. It is redundant. It's just the voiceactor's voice. What if it were to be a Chinese voiceactor, would that be notable? No. If the talk page contains good discussions that directly affects the content of the article (such as verifying rumours or expanding facts), then it can stay.
To OrionF22: Problem is that the talk page contains discussion which is irrelevant to the article itself. We do not delete talk pages without any proper reasoning. If it were to contain social discussion which does not improve/enhance the article itself, what's the point of having a talk page?- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 21:15, December 15, 2009 (UTC)

"Actually, it's not notable. It is redundant. It's just the voiceactor's voice. What if it were to be a Chinese voiceactor, would that be notable?"
— You
That right there sounds worth mentioning in the talk page so you don't have to have the same issue again with another editor. What if you encounter this problem again? Had you left that part of the talk page alone, the editor might have been smart enough to look at it and realize that it had already been addressed. For this reason I believe that any piece of information referring to the article, no matter how seemingly irrelevant, should be left alone, so that some bozo doesn't repeat the same thing all over again. I understand why you would want to remove the social aspects, but if this socializing is discussing the article and what to do with it, then that too should be left alone. I thought that was what a talk page was for. So far, I haven't seen anything in a talk page worth deleting.
There is probably some two-watt out there who put something ridiculous in a talk page (or will). Perhaps it was a duplicate. That should be deleted, but perhaps a new subtopic should be created addressing the deletion of such content? This would allow users to chip in and voice their opinions as to the relevancy of this article, instead of just deleting it outright and leaving some users inquisitive as to why.
File:Gunnery Sergeant.png  ΘяɪɸɴF22    Me    Talk    Contributions    CAG   21:24, December 15, 2009 (UTC)
Halopedia is not a social site. If they insist on doing so, just use the Message Board feature provided by Wikia. Again, if it is related to the article and it could improve the article, it would stay. If the discussion strays off from the original topic, then it will be removed.
Regarding the voiceactor issue, it would be far better to have a link to the voiceactor profile (example, "He/She was voiced by INSERT VOICEACTOR HERE) rather than having a trivia which goes as such "This SPARTAN has an English accent" which is redundant and does not give any real information. This has been put into practise in Halopedia ever since it was first created.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 21:36, December 15, 2009 (UTC)
I understand non-relevent topics will be removed. I'm not arguing that they stay. I am arguing that minor, seemingly inconsequential topics be left in so that something similar is not repeated. Otherwise you may have to deal with 100s of editors thinking the mention of an accent is noteworthy. I see how it looks so insignificant and trivial that it should be forgotten, but I argue that it stay so you don't have similar problems down the road. Additionally, this should reduce the number of pointless or trivial edits if users can look at the talk page and see that what they want to put in is already addressed.

I understand. :)
Just a suggestion: Keep the signature simple. :P - 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 21:54, December 15, 2009 (UTC)

Yes this Wiki isn’t a social site. But a debate on whether or not the accent is notable is exactly why the talk page is there. So we can decide what relevance the information has, and lay out arguments for/against inclusion. And we do have precedence, for example it is considered notable that Byrne is the only Irish character seen thus far in Halo. Further I would consider it notable to mention if a character had a Chinese accent. It’s an integral part of their character, or at least it influences the way they are interpreted, a filter through which the user percieves them. --Sandor051 12:58, December 16, 2009 (UTC)

"Regarding the voiceactor issue, it would be far better to have a link to the voiceactor profile (example, "He/She was voiced by INSERT VOICEACTOR HERE) rather than having a trivia which goes as such "This SPARTAN has an English accent" which is redundant and does not give any real information. — Accent issue
Again, the solution to this issue is not to mention what accent they have, but to point out who is the voiceactor. This issue has been resolved in the past.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 13:43, December 16, 2009 (UTC)

Subtank, I'm not even sure why you're a moderator. There's a talk page for a reason, to discuss facts and to see if it's relevant to add into the page. To discuss what seems to be irrelevant and then see if it's relevant enough to some people to add in. That's what the point is. You even told me that. However, you keep walking into the talk pages and wiping them clean because they are discussing "irrelevant information" even if it is quazi-relevant. You're contradicting yourself. Try harder next time.

FlamingRain 21:49, December 21, 2009 (UTC)

Did you not read any of the above statements? Subtank wipes sections that are irrelevant, social or unneeded discussions. I have seen this in all the wipes she has done. If a discussion topic isn't relevant to the article, or its plain unneeded or obvious, it goes off. - File:Major.png Nìcmávr (Tálk) 21:52, December 21, 2009 (UTC)
Yet is that not the point of a talk page? To determine the relevancy of new information? That's what it was last time I checked. Once the information is agreed upon as irrelevant by the contributions of other users on the talk page, then it could be removed, but I believe it should stay, so that no one else down the line asks the same question. File:Gunnery Sergeant.png  ΘяɪɸɴF22    Me    Talk    Contributions    CAG   21:57, December 21, 2009 (UTC)
Yes, but that's when a discussion topic is unclear whether or not its relevant. If something is clearly unneeded, social or plain obvious discussion, there isn't a need to consult before removal. Yes, a talk page is for discussion in accordance to an article, yes it is to determine relevancy for information. But I repeat, if a discussion topic is clearly unneeded, its to be removed. Take this case for example. Or in this, in which she restored relevant discussion content. Subtank doesn't go into talk pages and madly start deleting or restoring whatever she likes. There's a reason she (and others who do it) do that. - File:Major.png Nìcmávr (Tálk) 22:09, December 21, 2009 (UTC)

I understand that. I know Subtank does not have a motive for spontaneously deleting material from talk pages, nor was I implying that she did/does. What I am saying is exactly what you are saying, with the exception that certain 'unneeded' material be left alone. This material is previous information that was posted to determine its relevancy to the article. I suggest it be left there so no one else in the future asks the same question, i.e. you determine that the fact that Pelicans share similarities with the V-22 Osprey is irrelevant to the Pelican article in the talk page, then I would say leave that discussion there so another user does not ask that same question later. If you leave it there, then perhaps that user will see it before editing, thus preventing the whole thing from repeating itself. Saves the admins some time, as well as other users. Subtank, I was just looking back on the Drone page, I'm gonna add a link or something for my little research study for the colour/possible rank variation soon when its complete. Anyway, I guess maybe I was having a bad day, but I didn't realise how pissy I was about it:

"Subtank I know you have a high rep, and that's been gained by doing a lot of good things, but "the reasoning that it's not actually a "real" rank because it's in firefight" is completely absurd. You are inducing your own pic 'n' mix, personal canon and pulling it over the rest of the community. Despite whatever good you've done, I'm not going to respond lightly to this, because to me that's crossing the line..." And so on...

Anyway, I'd like to apologise. I'm sorry. I was a bit overzealous and I can't shoot you down for having an opinion and just editing with the facts you had. You're doing a great job as an admin of the Halo wikia, keep going. Merry Christmas and peace out. -TheLostJedi 19:22, 25 December 2009 (GMT)

I understand your confusion over this matter, but I'm only relaying the information I have at my disposal. I would never introduce new rules or conclusions without a discussion. Anyway, it has been established that certain aspects of multiplayer are considered non-canon as stated previously by a Bungie Employee back during the release of Halo 2. I can't recall when it was mentioned or where I could find it (Bungie.net doesn't archive its past news). So, by all means, please do your research and inform me. :D - 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 18:20, December 26, 2009 (UTC)

Action Figure Question

Looking at the McFarlane Toys website, I realized that there were many figures that did not go with the original series. Would you like them to be put into seperate articles? If so, then how would we fit these into the McFarlane template? --File:Colonel Grade One.png  General5 7    talk    contribs    email   18:02, January 23, 2010 (UTC)

Maybe namespacing it like McFarlane Toys/Series 1 for the series, and for the odd ones as McFarlane Toys/Miscellaneous? That would be the best way to solve this little problem. Using this way, we could just add a Miscellaneous to the template.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 21:28, January 23, 2010 (UTC)
So, to be clear, the page, McFarlane Heroic Collection Series, would be moved to McFarlane Toys/Miscellaneous/Heroic Collection Series?File:Colonel Grade One.png  General5 7    talk    contribs    email
Well, it appears there's a Legendary and Heroic series, so I would suggest moving to McFarlane Toys/Legendary Series for the Legendary series and vice versa. For those individual figurines such as the 12-inch Master Chief, redirect/move them to McFarlane Toys/Miscellaneous.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 21:13, January 24, 2010 (UTC)
Would you prefer the McFarlane Toys/Miscellaneous page to be arranged alphabetically, or according to their types (i.e. Campaign, Multiplayer, etc.)? File:Colonel Grade One.png  General5 7    talk    contribs    email

Homecoming

Its kinda obvious that Ralph is ether not a spartan or his tag is not 303 because its not possible. Also the rule for cannon stuff here is we only add stuff if it doesnt contradict previous established cannon. And having a spartan with a tag higher than 150 contradicts previous cannon. --Philyboy2010 19:42, February 7, 2010 (UTC)

That is partly true... however, the canon of the number of active SPARTAN-IIs established by FoR has been contradicted countless times by newer media (Halo Wars, Halo Legends). So, as of now, it is best to just ignore the established canon until Frank O'Connor provides an explanation why so.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 19:46, February 7, 2010 (UTC)

Some clarification?

Hey there Subtank, I just noticed that you blocked the user Lordaki for 2 years for being 12 years old, citing wikia's terms of use as a reason for this. You also stated that he would be able to return when he was 14, as per terms of use. However, don't the terms of use state that one must be 13 years old to edit wiki, not 14? As quoted, "intended solely for users who are thirteen (13) years of age or older" and "warrant that you are 13 or older". Unless I am missing something here, the block should be shortened to one year upon the user turning 13. If I am missing something, could you please clarify? Editing Summaries

Why did you remove that trivia from the Recon armor page? I'm not saying I necessarily agree with it, but I'd like to know why, since you don't provide edit summaries. They all say m, whatever that means. It looks like you just remove content because you don't like it.

Also, that VGH guy above doesn't know how to close his spans, so I added some </span> tags to close them off so the rest of your page wasn't rendered with his signature font or his colors. It does that in IE 8, so I can only assume other browsers rendered this page like that as well. Regarding VGH: Not sure what you meant as it looked fine to me. Must be an IE8 bug/error. Get Firefox or Chrome. ;) - 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 18:07, March 23, 2010 (UTC)
I know the policy on speculation and such. I didn't necessarily agree with the trivia fact either. But I asked this question to find out why you don't give edit summaries as often. It is in the guidelines, so I was just wondering. In my opinion, when stuff like that happens where you delete content without a summary, it sometimes looks like you're just doing what you want to it. Please take no accusation charges from this. I'm just stating what I think here. Example: when you deleted the list of changes between Halo: CE and Halo 2...as I recall, I was one of two people to post on the talk page concerning its deletion. Yet it was deleted anyway. I do not know if there is some policy where if no one fights for an article's existence for x amount of days then it is deleted, but it looked like you just wanted it gone and just assumed everyone else felt that way.
Regarding the rendering errors: I'm guessing IE 8 doesn't use hte latest version of HTML, so Firefox or Chrome will automatically end tags and the right places, but IE 8 is more literal (hey, it's Microsoft), so it needed the closing span tags. I suspect I'm not the only one. Just thought I'd fix it. I do have both browsers, but Chrome sometimes can't access Google or Youtube, so I stopped using it. And I don't like the way Firefox looks, and haven't gotten around to customizing it yet. But I suspect I'll change soon. File:Lieutenant Grade One.png  ΘяɪɸɴF22    Me    Talk    Contributions    CAG   19:02, March 23, 2010 (UTC)
Regarding the "List of Changes...": I was under the assumption that we all agreed on its deletion since all of the information has been covered in their respective articles. As such, I don't see any reason why we need the article to be floating around in Halopedia. It is an administrative convention which goes like "once the main article covers everything from the duplicated article, the duplicated article should be removed from Halopedia". A perfect on-going (?) project that illustrates this is the Action Figure project which aims on merging all action figure articles into one massive article, with the previous removed from Halopedia.
Regarding editing summaries; I wasn't aware I left it blank. I apologise. It should have been "Redundant" in the edit summary. Odd that it didn't appear automatically in the drop down menu...- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 21:52, March 23, 2010 (UTC)
I understand the conventions for deleting duplicate articles, but as I said in that talk page and I believe yours as well, not everything in the list of changes article was covered in their respective articles. Specifically, the Pelican. I have not seen any mention of landing gear on its page. I suppose such information could be added tehre, but I also think it would be useful to have the list article left alone, so other users could see a clear and concise list of all the changes, just as merging the action figure articles is aimed at giving the users a clear and concise list of all the figures out there. File:Lieutenant Grade One.png  ΘяɪɸɴF22    Me    Talk    Contributions    CAG   22:25, March 23, 2010 (UTC)

Template:Article Quote

Because it isn't worth mentioning and would be redundant. HCE's Pelican wasn't designed with a landing gear and was only modelled to fly around. H2's Pelican, which uses the same model although graphically updated, confirms that the Pelican does has a landing gear and the same goes with the variant used in H3.
The idea of a "List of Changes" article is simply nonsense and redundant; changes made in games are expected as innovations are better and sells well than imitations whereas "Action Figure" article being merged into one article is more of imitations rather than innovations which also sells well due to the differing design and quality. As I said before, it is far more concise and clear if such changes is listed in their respective article. - 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 23:04, March 23, 2010 (UTC)

Brute Jump Pack Rank Pages

For some reason this requested splitting of the Brute Jump Pack page has been bugging me! I suppose all of the other Brute ranks have separate pages: Standard Minor, Stnd Major, Stnd Ultra and Captain Minor, Cptn Major, Cptn Ultra. Therefore i think the Jump Pack ranks should have too. This would require new images to be made (a decent transparent background image of the red and gold jump packers) but pretty much the same content. I could do it all myself but i don't knew whether you have any formatting/universal layout rules that have to apply, or whether you find this splitting necessary. So what do you think? The Parkster - (Chat Page|Contributions|Fan Fiction) - 14:27, April 25, 2010 (UTC)

The thing is that these so-called ranks we're giving to the Brute Jump Packs are just speculations. Bungie has not given them any official title and as such, we should refrain from giving them their own articles. The same goes with the Drones (Minor and Major ranks were confirmed by the H3 guidebook, I believe).- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 14:34, April 25, 2010 (UTC)
Okay fair play, but is there a notice/section on the page, which says that there could be other ranks however its just speculation? This way everything is covered. The Parkster - (Chat Page|Contributions|Fan Fiction) - 06:09, April 26, 2010 (UTC)

Convert Templates

I heard somewhere that even though this site is worldwide, it is to use convnetional spelling such as 'center' instead of 'centre', and the 'u' found in some words such as 'honor' was to be omitted. If I recall correctly, you were discussing it with another user on a talk page and stated that even though the user was 'right' for adding the British version of the word (I suppose that is the technically correct dictionary here), the American version was to be used. I could be wrong, but I know for sure someone high up here was saying that. Point is the convert template says 'metres', and to me, that makes me want to pronounce it 'mee-trees' instead of 'mee-turs'. I have no idea why, but it's the first thing that pops in my mind. I kept reverting the template to fix that. File:Lieutenant Grade One.png  ΘяɪɸɴF22    Me    Talk    Contributions    CAG   00:18, April 26, 2010 (UTC)

Didn't noticed the (unconscious mistake!) metres in the convert template as the Convert template was made by another British user.. :P

Oh ok. I assume the American way is the style used here then? File:Lieutenant Grade One.png  ΘяɪɸɴF22    Me    Talk    Contributions    CAG   00:28, April 26, 2010 (UTC)
Yes.
Looks like the user already installed an alternate language option. Adding |sp=us to the convert template will automatically change the British Spelling to American Spelling. You can go ahead and start adding this parameter to the template. :)- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 00:30, April 26, 2010 (UTC)
To which template am I to add this parameter? All the templates I was going through that listed things as 'metres' I changed but you reverted the edits, so I take it I need to be looking elsewhere. Where? File:Lieutenant Grade One.png  ΘяɪɸɴF22    Me    Talk    Contributions    CAG   00:38, April 26, 2010 (UTC)
Take this example as a guideline:
{{Convert|4.4|m|cm}}

will produce this: 4.4 metres (440 cm)

{{Convert|4.4|m|cm|sp=us}}

will produce this: 4.4 meters (440 cm)

So, it's simply adding |sp=us to the convert template whenever you see one. Don't change the core templates as it will cause potential errors.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 00:43, April 26, 2010 (UTC)
Oh ok. Still, someone should get in there and change the templates, since everyone isn't going to know to add that parameter to the template as of right now. Not to mention changing the core template would fix everything...at the source too. Just saying. I don't see how switching 'r' and 'e' could cause problems, but I'll leave them alone if you're concerned about it. The latter has been proven, but Plasma Physics feels the inconsistency should be left noted on the page because that's policy and that the Blip a mistake is the first assumption. I disagree, since it's been known since Halo 1 that the Array works by destroying bio-mass, thus it is not a mistake but he suggested I ask you. Read the talk page, then tell me, what do you say?Tuckerscreator 04:37, April 26, 2010 (UTC)

Oh, and I love the Rabbid. Just noticed it, couldn't resist.Tuckerscreator 04:38, April 26, 2010 (UTC)

Hehee. Rabbids are better than everything, even ninjas! :P
As for the inconsistency, Plasmic Physics is correct; inconsistencies should be codified. It should even be added into the List of Inconsistencies in Halo article.
As for the "harmonic resonance frequency", I believe the best example of how such technobabble actually works is in this movie. I could be wrong... :P - 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 11:43, April 26, 2010 (UTC)

How can Rabbids be better than Pirates? Well, granted some of the Rabbids ARE Pirates, but...

Yes, but I think he misunderstood how the Array works. The Array works by destroying bio-mass, as demonstrated by both Cortana’s quote about “starving the Flood” as well as common sense about bio-mass being left around with Flood being a bad idea. But Plasma Physics doesn’t seem to care about this, even when I countered all his arguments and he agreed as such, only to forget about it later. THAT’S the main thing I’m trying to point out, that it shouldn’t be listed because it’s not an inconsistency. I agree with policy, it’s just that here it doesn’t apply.Tuckerscreator 05:15, April 27, 2010 (UTC)

Oh noes, The Core! Don’t even remind me! Oh wait, there was also THIS!

And this.

Rabbids are no pirates. They are manipulator of the mind!
Anyway, you should've included Halo Legends' Origins scene into your argument as the scene shows that even the Flood gets eliminated by the Halo Array. I don't know what the discussion is heading towards as I am now confused to whether the inconsistency should be mentioned or it should be removed... so, I'll leave you two to decide.
Armageddon is a nice movie!- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 14:16, April 27, 2010 (UTC)

Rabbids have minds? That's news to me.

Legends I'm unsure about. See, if the Array could be built to destroy the Flood, then comes the question of why the Forerunners just couldn't build the Array to destroy only the Flood, judging by how the Indexing process is described by the Librarian. Anyway, Cortana says herself that the rings are meant to STARVE the Flood, and games take higher precedence over the films. But I'll discuss it with Plasma Physics, just trying to clear up an issue here, thanks Subtank.

Oh, and to quote from Roger Ebert:

"Here it is at last, the first 150-minute trailer. Armageddon is cut together like its own highlights. No matter what they're charging to get in, it's worth more to get out."
— Roger Ebert

And my personal favorite:

"Disaster movies always have little vignettes of everyday life. The dumbest in Armageddon involves two Japanese tourists in a New York taxi. After meteors turn an entire street into a flaming wasteland, the woman complains, "I want to go shopping!" I hope in Japan that line is redubbed as "Nothing can save us but Gamera!""

Based on this discussion, I would assume the Halo Array is unable to target smaller biomass such as the Flood Infection forms. With nothing to survive as they all have been eradicated by the Halo Array, the Flood Infection Forms are indeed starved to death (one notable example being the old Infection Forms that infected Jenkins but unable to take full control over him as stated in Halo: The Flood).- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 12:27, April 28, 2010 (UTC)

I've read that discussion before, but thanks for pointing it out to me again, I'l show it to Plasma Physics. Though I thought the old Infection Forms exception was because they were frozen on the Halo or something... But it doesn't matter. Thanks again for the help, Subtank.Tuckerscreator 23:03, April 28, 2010 (UTC)

Userboxes

Why did you remove the Shadow userbox from the Halopedia:Project Userbox/Vehicles page? It was perfectly alright. Template:Signature/Cally99117

Sorry I didn't know you fixed it. Template:Signature/Cally99117

Your userbox was causing an error in the talk page.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 17:44, April 27, 2010 (UTC)

Heads up

There's a link on the main page for users to add their own fact to Template:DYK/CHOICES, but the respective page has been fully protected for almost five months. The fact of "Alan Tudyk who voiced Sonny on I-Robot also did the voice for Mickey in ODST" also has both a grammatical error and is missing a </option> tag, which I can't fix myself, so could you? Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of Halopedia.

Hey there, Subtank. Sorry to bother you again but I’m at a dead point in debating once again. Plasma Physics and I have been continuing our debate on this page and it’s not going well. I do feel that I pulled up sufficient evidence to point the conclusion in favor, including quotes from the characters, other debates on this wiki(such as the one you showed me, thank you very much), and basic understanding of how the Flood works, but Plasma seems to have entrenched himself in the infamous position of “if it doesn’t say it right in our face, then it’s not true” which theoretically could win ANY debate on this wiki without any evidence(and almost did recently on Thel' Vadam's page, as you know) if there weren’t regard for “suspension of disbelief” and “reasonable assumption.” We’ve both gotten tired, as it seems to be working in a back-and-forth loop of forgetting everything that was previously said and having to point it out over and over again, but I need a Arbiter(whups, no pun intended!), which naturally should be an admin such as yourself, to spell the final consensus on this, as it looks that, without Plasma’s consent in some form, the “Blip” page itself could get caught in a future edit war of “is it or is it not a mistake?” Tuckerscreator 03:29, May 4, 2010 (UTC)

Just so you know; even if the array could destroy flood organisms, it still cannot defeat the parasite. Remember; Spore Form. Because of this form; the flood is capable of surviving the holocaust.-- Forerunner 06:32, May 4, 2010 (UTC)
The thing about Thel 'Vadam was that it was not confirmed by Frankie, so I am not going to believe it is Thel 'Vadam until confirmed by Frankie. Template:Signature/Cally99117

I agree with you, Forerunner, thanks for the help bit. As for you Cally, like we said on the discussion page, it takes more assumption to assume it was not Vadamee himself than it does to assume that he is.Tuckerscreator 14:53, May 4, 2010 (UTC)

I guess everything's solved? :) - 5əb'7aŋk(Σάπτανκ) 15:39, May 4, 2010 (UTC)

Seems like it now, I think, now that you and Jugus stepped in to help. Once the page is fixed then I think it will be finished. Thanks Subtank.Tuckerscreator 19:57, May 4, 2010 (UTC)

Heretic Battlenet

Hey, you should not make my Heretic Battlenet page redirect to the Covenant one. The Heretics and the Covenant are completely different.

187.111.249.248 14:55, May 6, 2010 (UTC)

Not true. The "Heretic Battlenet" is simply the Battlenet used by the Heretics. It's the same as the Covenant's and is Covenant technology. A "Battlenet" is simply a communication system between ships in a fleet (like the Fleet of Particular Justice's) or troops in a unit (like the UNSC's TEAMCOM). Their battlenet is presumably set to a slightly different frequency from the Spec Ops. team's by design to limit confusion.-- Forerunner 15:00, May 6, 2010 (UTC)

Horrible Glitch

Hey again Subtank. sorry to bother you again, but you're the only person I know here who is regularly on Halo Fanon. For SOME ODD reason, Halo Fanon won't let me log in. I click log in, type in my user name and password, and I simply get an error message telling me to go back and refresh the page. It's been a week now and it still won't let me in! I can't even function as an IP user because it tells me that the Special:Editing is shut off and changeable only with an account. I haven't tried creating a new account, but that could potentially risk a ban, so I want to know if you have any advice.Tuckerscreator 05:54, May 8, 2010 (UTC)

Contact Wikia. They updated the system lately. :| - 5əb'7aŋk(Σάπτανκ) 13:33, May 8, 2010 (UTC)

I did that, was re-directed by them to Wikia Help wiki, logged in there as they said to do, and nothing happened. Now it's impossible to for me to access my Halo Fanon account at all because the "sign-in" button simply doesn't work. I'm hoping there's something I haven't thought out of, but I'm worried that I may have to create a new account. Any suggestions?Tuckerscreator 02:30, May 12, 2010 (UTC)

Have you tried signing through Halopedia, then click on Halo Fanon via Sidebar? If that doesn't work and that you've already contacted Wikia but their solution didn't work, then make a forum in Community Wiki. I'm sure folks in Community Wiki have some solution.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 14:14, May 12, 2010 (UTC)

That’s the way I’ve been trying to log into Halo Fanon but the “Log-in” button simply doesn’t work. I did try creating a forum on Community Wiki as you said, but unusually the log-in button didn’t work there either. Then when I tried to edit it as an IP user, it simply told me that the “rich-text editor” is off or something. I haven’t seen this problem on any other wikis I’ve gone to, though I’m a little afraid of testing if I should log-off here and see if I can log back in. There’s doesn’t seem to be anything else I haven’t tried. Should I contact Wikia again?Tuckerscreator 00:37, May 15, 2010 (UTC)

Have you tried logging in manually via Special:Login? - Sketchist 00:45, May 15, 2010 (UTC)
If the above doesn't work, I suppose you have to contact Wikia directly via IRC. Head over to [2], choose #wikia as your channel and request for assistance in the channel.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 22:37, May 15, 2010 (UTC)

Special:Login took me to the same log-in page as before, and, as usual, it didn't work. Clicking the button achieves nothing. I'll try the IRC, but I've never tried it before, I'll have to see how long an average one takes! Tuckerscreator 03:51, May 17, 2010 (UTC)

Get onto #halopedia right now and I'll guide you to #wikia.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 21:27, May 17, 2010 (UTC)

I didn't stay on the IRC long, I fell busy, but they recommended I test to see if Javascript was on. Oddly enough, it seems to be! and yet I still can not log in! I'll ask them again, and see if they have any other advice, but... this is getting me PRETTY worried here now!

(Speaking of pretty, nice user pic you you've got now up there now. The eyes... always watching me...)Tuckerscreator 05:18, May 19, 2010 (UTC)

Some users over the IRC assume that it could be your browser, because it has is unsupported with the new update. Have you tried with a different browser?- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 14:17, May 19, 2010 (UTC)

Nope, never tried it with another browser. And so far, the log-button remains unchanged and unmoving. But my other account elsewhere are unchanged, I can log into them just fine. Did any update occur SPECIFICALLY on Halo Fanon before I asked you?Tuckerscreator 01:13, May 23, 2010 (UTC)

Also, nobody else has reported similar problems, have they?Tuckerscreator 01:52, May 23, 2010 (UTC)

There haven't been any update on HaloFanon. The latest update will be added on the 30th of May. And no, you're the first and only user who reported this glitch/bug. - 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 14:59, May 23, 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure what did it, but Special:Login has been changed! I am able to write my username and password now, but when I try to sign in, I get this message:

""There seems to be a problem with your login session; this action has been canceled as a precaution against session hijacking. Please hit "back" and reload the page you came from, then try again. "" Doing so does nothing, however. I'm not sure what caused the log-in to change all of a sudden, but I'm wondering what the next step should be now, though it might offer the "slight" relief of being able to open a new account should all do wrong. Any suggestions?Tuckerscreator 17:16, May 25, 2010 (UTC)
There's nothing more I can do. That's all I know about how to circumvent a glitch. I would suggest contact Wikia again via Special:Contact and tell them everything. Try to include this talk page as a reference for them to figure what went wrong. Good luck. - 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 21:56, May 25, 2010 (UTC)

RE: Edits

I didn't know it was wrong to make multiple good edits with research in between. ; ( Halo addict 22:21, May 11, 2010 (UTC)

It is written in our blocking policy. I suggest you take this moment to read our rules and policies to understand how Halopedia works.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 22:25, May 11, 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, but I'm used to the Call of Duty Wiki, as well as the Far Cry, Gears of War, and Star Wars Wikis. I forgot that editing the same page here over and over again lets you gain points. I remember that from reading the policy, but I didn't know that doing it with good intentions was bad. Next time I attempt a major edit, I'll use Stickies to keep notes of what I want to change. Again, I apologize, but I have an awful memory. I'll not be blocked, will I? With respect, Template:Signature/COD 22:30, May 11, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for fixing my signature template. I wasn't sure how. Template:Signature/COD

Sources

Why do you kerp removing the legitimate sources on the Halo Evolutions page Dirt and other related pages when I am just trying to help the page? SPARTAN-125 Cally99117

I have not done such thing. Sources should be listed in the sources section and notes should be listed in the notes section. Sources, if provided with a quote, should be listed in the sources section whereas the notes section is to explain/flesh out an information. You created unneeded notes that should not be expanded and placed references in irrelevant articles.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 20:16, May 12, 2010 (UTC)

Second Battle of Arcadia

Well it is mentioned in the Halo Wars Timeline that it is called "Second Fall of Arcadia" however I looked through the history and Forerunner moved the page to it's current title by saying: "Second Fall makes little sense...Fall of Arcadia may cause a misunderstanding." even though it is the given name of the battle or fall (just throwing that out). -->File:Captain Grade One.png Userpage User talk Contributions Editcount Email (UserWiki) (Favourite) (Userboxes) 14:28, May 31, 2010 (UTC)

Not really helpful but to Cally99117, could you please have a shorter signature? It's a pain to see all these useless links to your personal page.
