Yar

Chur'R-Yar is the Kig-yar Shipmistress of the Covenant missionary vessel Minor Transgression. She had light yellow skin and ruby-red eyes. She discovered the planet Harvest and found many relics. She attempted to keep some of the supposed relics for herself and had Zhar disable the Luminary. She then threatened the Unggoy Dadab to keep quiet. She was severely wounded by Sergeant Johnson when he and Byrne investigated the captured freighter This End Up. She was killed when she blew up a methane tank, attempting to kill Johnson. Minor Transgression was also destroyed by the explosion. Her ancestors were pirates that sailed the Kig-Yar homeworld looking for treasure.

Trivia

• Chur'R-Yar, is a prominent character, as she is the first female Covenant character ever mentioned in the Halo universe; however, she is not the only female Covenant character as the Prophetess of Obligation is clearly another female Covenant character.
• Chur'R-Yar is the only Kig-Yar ever known to have a name more than one syllable long. The "Chur'R" segment may have been adopted upon becoming a Shipmistress.
• It is unknown, why the Hierarchs would appoint such a pirate for missionary missions outside Covenant space, Chur'R-Yar's latter plans involved plundering the Human world (Harvest) of all its resources, neglecting the presence of Forerunner riches.
• Chur'R-Yar motives for taking a share of the apparent relics is because she wants her ship to be out of commission for the whole Kig-Yar mating season.
• Apparently Chur'R-Yar, had chosen the Jackal Zealot Zhar as her mate, based around his physical traits and long, angular spikes no other Male has.
