Halogen

Halogen was a complete conversion mod of Command and Conquer: Generals being created by Slipstream Productions in an attempt to create a Real-Time Strategy version of Halo. Microsoft had given the cease and desist order to Slipstream Productions, and has since been cancelled. Many fans were disappointed, especially after learning the progress was as far as a Beta.

Rumor has it that Halo Wars was directly produced because of fans' reactions to Halogen and the stopping of the project. Halo Wars was announced shortly after halogen was canceled, and many fans believe that halo Wars will become the new Halogen.
