UNSC Iwo Jima

The UNSC Iwo Jima was a UNSC destroyer in 2552.
It was part of Admiral Carl "Buster" Patterson's task force sent to Onyx to retrieve Dr. Catherine Halsey as well as the Spartan-IIs and Spartan-IIIs. During the first attack on Covenant ships in orbit in the Battle of Onyx, the Iwo Jima was trying to escape the fight when it grazed a Covenant carrier, spun out of control, and crashed into two Covenant destroyers. The ship then self-destructed, taking both ships with it.

The Battle of Iwo Jima was fought by the United States of America and the Empire of Japan in February and March 1945, during the Pacific Campaign of World War II. The U.S. invasion, known as Operation Detachment, was aimed at capturing the airfields on Iwo Jima. Template:BGStalingrad
