Staff sergeant

Template:Ratings Template:Rank Infobox Staff Sergeant is the sixth enlisted rank of the UNSC Marine Corps and the UNSC Army, and is a non-commissioned officer. It is equal to the rank of Petty Officer First Class in the UNSC Navy. The rank is symbolized by 3 gold chevrons and one gold rocker.
Avery Johnson and Nolan Byrne were platoon sergeants on Harvest, and were instructed to train a Colonial Militia.
For the UNSC Marine Corps, Staff Sergeant is the first of the staff non-commissioned officer ranks.
For the Army, this rank and the subsequent Sergeant ranks are often referred to as simply "Sergeant". The subsequent Sergeant ranks for the Marine Corps are always referred to by their full rank. An exception for the Army is if the Staff Sergeant themselves wish to be called by full rank.
