The Spartan Neural Interface is an upgrade of the standard Neural Interface used by the UNSC SPARTAN-II supersoldiers. The Spartan Neural Interface was implanted in the Spartans upon the reciept of their MJOLNIR Mark V armor.

In addition to the standard functions of a Neural Interface, the Spartan Neural Interface is unique in that it is designed to hold an AI that interfaces between the MJOLNIR armor and the wearer's brain. The AI is capable of translating impulses in the user's motor cortex directly into motion. This way, reaction time is greatly improved.

The AI Data Crystal Chip is implanted in a socket at the base of the MJOLNIR's neck. Therefore, the AI is said to reside both inside the armor and inside the wearer's brain. Essentially, it is in both places at once. The interface also allows the AI to perform a handful of operations with the suit, though not to control it completely.
