René was conscripted into the SPARTAN-II Program in 2517. When the time came for the Spartan augmentations in 2525, René became crippled and could not fight anymore. He/She was last known to be floating in a neural buoyancy gel tank next to Kirk, with his/her skeletal system twisted beyond recognition. The last time René was seen was on the UNSC Carrier Atlas. His/her current whereabouts are unknown to date, even the gender. However, it is most likely that he/she would proceed to command the UNSC, as all who could not engage in actual combat went to command school.

Trivia

• René most likely does not have the rank of Petty Officer Second Class, as his/her role in the SPARTAN-II Program ended before graduation.
• It's likely that he/she has French ancestry. Considering this, it is more likely that he is a male because of the lack of an "e" at the end of his name.
• It is likely that, since he/she is French, he/she quit the SPARTAN-II program, because he/she is French, and Frenchies surrender all the time.
