Image sorting[edit]

For image sorting we need to do it in three phases.

  • 1. Get all the images renamed and re homed. (Deleted if unneeded)
  • 2. Give all the images appropriate categories.
  • 3. Get accurate and source info in the images pages.

Once this is done we are safe with all the images.-CIA391 (talk) 05:23, 13 September 2018 (EDT)

Question regarding Project Userbox[edit]

What was Project Userbox, and why were it and all userboxes purged from this site? What mess did the userboxes cause? --KevinM (talk) 22:36, July 3, 2024 (EDT)

Hey there, "Project Userbox" was part of a time on Halopedia when a lot of stuff was a lot more... loose. It was where people listed Userbox templates they made for people to use. It was kinda mostly abandoned when Halopedia left Wikia (Now Fandom) in 2010 and was kinda just becoming a weird relic that needed tidied up.
Now why where they all deleted, they were kinda horrible as a whole. A tldr is they...
1. Often didn't use a standard. When I was looking through them all they all had different ideas and so on in them. This made them unviable to maintain in the long term.
2. They filled the template namespace making finding important stuff harder, deleting them all fixed this issue outright as we focused Templates to mostly have a purpose.
3. They often went unused or had 1 single person use them. Which is something we want to try and avoid in templates going forward.
4. They used rubbish files that were exclusively for that. We have a stronger file policy nowadays, and Userboxes wouldn't fit into that.
5. The naming schemes they had were unfortunately unregulated, something that we are getting better at maintaining going forward.
Ultimately them being mostly underused, bad standards, and what they are going against how Halopedia runs nowadays means they are very likely not to be adopted here again. -CIA391 (talk) 09:31, July 5, 2024 (EDT)
