Post-Covenant War conflicts[2]

The venerable plasma pistol remains a common weapon with the Banished, particularly among Grunt and Jackal forces. It fires bolts of superheated plasma, and can be charged up by holding down the trigger to fire an overcharged tracking bolt that EMPs vehicles[sic] and strips energy shields.[3]

The Rohakadu-pattern Pistol, also known as the plasma pistol, is a plasma-based directed-energy firearm manufactured by Iruiru Armory under a shadow contract with the Banished for use in armed combat.[1]

Overview[edit]

Design details[edit]

Main article: Plasma pistol

Manufactured by Iruiru Armory, the Rohakadu-pattern plasma pistol is a directed-energy weapon employed by the Banished. The Rohakadu-pattern was designed and commissioned per Let 'Volir's requests under a shadow contract with the manufacturer. The pattern bares heavy similarities to the Zo'klada-pattern plasma pistol utilized by many Covenant splinter factions, and respects the former's design in functionality too, although with slight improvements to durability and native-link compatibility.[1]

Usage[edit]

This Rohakadu-pattern pistol was fielded by Banished forces during the Battle for Zeta Halo in 2560. It was commonly used by Unggoy and Kig-Yar.[2][3]

Variants[edit]

  • Unbound Plasma Pistol: A modified variant of the plasma pistol with a white chassis that fires faster, stronger bolts that have a homing ability. In addition, its scaled burst fires six bolts instead of a single overcharge bolt; the bolts detonate in a "supercombine" explosion if they hit the same target.[5]

In-game information[edit]

Semi-automatic plasma energy weapon capable of a scaled-burst effect that strips shielded targets.[6]

Production notes[edit]

At release, an overcharged burst from the plasma pistol in Halo Infinite was incapable of disabling vehicles via an electromagnetic pulse. Despite that, upon the release of Forge, the Forge description for the plasma pistol erroneously stated that the weapon's overcharged burst retained this feature.[3] With the release of Content Update 32 on April 30, 2024, the EMP functionality was restored on the weapon.[7]
