Reason for nomination

Here's that time again, when we face a monumental task ahead of us. Within a year, more Halo material will be released than ever before, including the upcoming Halo Legends series and the prequel, Halo: Reach. As we've asked for a "different" types of admins in the past, whether their expertise is in community efforts, or their technical prowess, and today is nothing different. Right now, we have the community, and we definitely have the technical stuff down...so now we can shift to one of the most important things, writing skills.

Nicmavr, like the others being nominated today, has proved himself worthy of donning the party helmets of the Halopedia Administration. He is one of our best writers today, likely remembering the entirety of the Manual of Style as entertainment while he re-writes some of our largest and most popular articles. In addition to his fantastic writing skills, Nicmavr is an excellent community member who's become one of the most responsible Operators on our IRC channel, #Halopedia. Plus, he's a rollback whore, with hundreds of reverts and vandal fighting under his wing, proving he knows how to protect our glorious establishment from kids who have too much time.

Yeah, misuse of rollback, so you say. Anything seems to qualify as misuse with you. You tend to block and remove without giving any sort of prior warning (on offenses that would normally only require a warning or an explanation on why it was wrong, in the case of someone making a minor mistake with rollback). The removal of his rollback rights was unwarranted. He should have received an explanation on why that rollback edit was a mistake. Of course, you don't seem capable of doing that... I never said I didn't want to be. I just wasn't entirely sure about it at first, and the RfA did surprise me as I never saw myself being considered for a position as an administrator (And I think this has happened to many RfA candidates in the past). 1. When did you join Halopedia?

June 2nd, 2008.

2. What do you believe are your most valued contributions to Halopedia?

I often help out with cleanup work, and I tend to try and edit articles in accordance to the MOS as much as possible. I also do my fair share of reverting vandalism and poor edits, fixing up grammar on articles and fixing broken and double redirects.

3. What do you believe are your most valued technical contributions to Halopedia?

I have quite a lot of experience with templates and wiki coding. I've helped users in the lines of signatures and userboxes, also volunteered to place my name as a contact for help on the Help Page for signatures.

4. What do you believe are your most valued contributions to the community?

I've done my best to help any troubled users and give my advice to them. I also serve as an IRC op in #halopedia.

5. If you are administrated, what changes do you propose?

I haven't thought much about this. I think the first thing I'd like to do is help out with a cleanup attempt on the Action Figure articles. If I am administrated, I will also put in my best efforts to help out with getting rid of guideline-violating polls, quizzes, etc.

6. To the best of your understanding, what does administratorship entail?

Being a helper to the community. Administrators have access to extra functions, which are to be used for the benefit of the wiki and its users. I also believe an ideal admin should set an example for other users to follow.

7. To the best of your understanding, when will you be able to check Halopedia after you are administrated, in the event that you are?

Almost certainly, everyday, unless something serious pops up or I'm temporarily away for any reason.

8. What communities are you associated with online, Halo and otherwise?

Apart from Halopedia, IRC, halomaps.org and Xfire.

9. What is your familiarity with the Halo universe?

Pretty good. I have Halo 1, 2, 3 and ODST sitting on my shelf, and I've gained a lot of knowledge from Halopedia itself.

10. What is your familiarity with Wikia and Halopedia policies?

I have a fairly good familiarity with the policies of wikia. I do go over the policies every now and then, to check for any changes in them and just to keep them fresh on my mind.

11. What is your relationship with the Halopedia community and current administration?

Very good I believe. I get on well with just about any user I meet, and I'm on good terms with many of the admins, to which I often work closely with. I'll say I've had a couple of minor conflicts with a user or two on the site (to which was resolved), but nothing worse than that. I generally have good days with the IRC community as well.
