Amatus was a Jiralhanae warrior in the service of the Banished. He was killed by a captive Ilsa Zane in late 2558.[1]

Biography[edit]

Following the skirmish on Laika III in October 2558, the Banished arrived on the world to take control of the site of a Guardian Custode's emergence only hours prior. Amatus was a part of this force, and served as a guard to watch over the various Banished prisoners of war - including both insurrectionist and United Nations Space Command-aligned personnel. After waking up Ilsa Zane with a roar, Amatus patrolled the prisoner cadre, daring them to look him the eye and challenge him in combat. Dasc Gevadim - recalling his own internment by Jiralhanae during the Covenant attack on Beta Gabriel in 2552 - urged Ilsa to not meet Amatus' challenge, and instead work to divide the pack from within. However, Zane elected to ignore this advice and goaded Amatus into a fight.[1]

While he bellowed out, Zane used the strength conferred to her by her proto-augmentations a result of the SPARTAN-IV program to punch Amatus in the throat, winding him and cutting off his air. She then ripped off one of Amatus' shoulder pauldrons and proceeded to beat Amatus' head in with it, completely oblitering his skull and rendering it a pile of gore. Amatus' fellow Jiralhanae watched the violence in shock, though made no effort to help Amatus. Once the dead Brute's body was dragged to the front of the prisoner pen, the surrounding warriors urged their Chieftain to slay Zane where she stood in revenge - though the Chieftain instead confessed that he had never liked Amatus anyway, and that he was impressed by Zane's kill. Consequently, she was welcomed into the pack - leading to her eventually joining the Banished and bringing the rest of the New Colonial Alliance with her.[1]
