The Pipistrelle is a VTOL aircraft flown by Arturo Ramus, a member of the Committee to Preserve Gao Independence.[1]
Overview[edit]
Design details[edit]
The Pipistrelle is a VTOL aircraft which makes use of several rotors for flight. The interior of the aircraft consists of the pilot's cockpit and a passenger compartment. In order for passengers to communicate amongst themselves and with the pilot over the sound of the rotors, the Pipistrelle includes a headset system. Passenger seats are equipped with a crash harness for safety. On either side of the passenger compartment is a sliding side-door with windows to allow occupants to see outside of the aircraft. The underside of the Pipistrelle includes landing struts.[1]
Usage[edit]
Arturo Ramus, a member of the Committee to Preserve Gao Independence, owned and operated a Pipistrelle on Gao. Known to be a skilled pilot, Arturo hired out his services for transport assignments. In late 2559, he and his Pipistrelle were hired by Keely Iyuska and Spartan-IV Olympia Vale to transport them to and from the village of Paraiso.[1]
Trivia[edit]
- The Pipistrelle is named after Pipistrellus, a genus of small bats. Species within the genus are often called "pipistrelles" or "pipistrelle bats."
- Another possible influence for the name of the Pipistrelle is Pipistrel d.o.o Ajdovščina, a Slovenian light aircraft manufacturer that is also named after the genus of bats.
