Overview
Sangheili is the many dialects of language spoken by the Sangheili. The Covenant adopted an advanced dialect of this language as their lingua franca, used to connect the different races and species.[2]

Text, or writing, Sangheili appears to be mostly triangle shapes and composed almost completely of equilateral triangles. The main triangle can use three distinct styles and they are, as follows, "Standard" where it is a regular triangle, "Technical" where a line is taken out each side of the triangle leaving a line, and "Transitional" where it uses the same logic as Technical but instead of leaving a line it removes the entire section. These triangles are often seen with a notch taken out one of their sides, these are described as "Notched". These notches can either be Triangle shaped (Cite Halo 5 Forge here) or semi-circles.(Cite Halo2.com, Halo 4, Halo Wars Launch Site... essentially any source that uses that type)
Surrounding the triangles is often smaller triangles, these are described as a "Tick". (Cite Halo 5 Forge here) Ticks have also been used to make some letters of their own, forgoing the larger triangle. (Cite Halo2.com, Halo 4, Halo Wars Launch Site... essentially any source that uses that type)
If a triangle has a triangle taken out of it, this is described as "Hollow". These are not seen to use notches. (Cite Halo 5 Forge)
Thin isosceles triangles on their side are also used. (Cite Halo2.com)
The triangular characters have been seen oriented both in the horizontal left-to-right direction and in a vertical right-to-left direction.[3]

Basic Sangheili
A version of the language described as "basic Sangheili" was spoken by Atriox to talk to members of the Silent Shadow who infiltrated his ship the Elegy's Lament.[4]
Trade pidgin
A specific trade pidgin of Sangheili existed within the Covenant fringe.[5]

Halo 3 Vidoc
