Strongholds
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
Strongholds is a multiplayer gametype in Halo 5: Guardians and Halo Infinite.
Overview
Strongholds is the successor to 3-Plot Territories, and focuses on two teams capturing three static areas on the map to earn points.
Capturing Zones
Three zones appear on the map, available for players to hold and capture. To capture a zone, at least one player from a team must be standing within its area for a set duration. If a player from an opposing team enters the zone, it becomes contested, and the capture is on halt until only one of the two opposing players remain in the zone. If an enemy's zone is uncontested, a player can capture the zone, but they must first remove the zone from the enemy team's possession and return the zone to a neutral state. If the zone is still in the process of returning to a neutral possession, and an enemy player returns to the zone and removes the player from the zone, the enemy player can "secure" the zone, which instantaneously returns the zone to the enemy's possession.
Scoring
A team scores a point for every second they hold two of the three zones. The team that is only holding one zone do not earn any points. The mode was designed so that it would be difficult to control all three points at the same time without stretching one's team too thin. If a team has capture all three zones, they earn two points per second.
Victory
The first team that reaches the score limit (100 by default in Halo 5: Guardians and 200 by default in Halo Infinite) wins the game.
