Name[edit]

I'm looking at the character cards that came with the limited editon, and they don't mention the Army Commander's name. Does it appear in the strategy guide, like Ripa 'Moramee? Sith Alchemy 101 22:59, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

I own them too, and they don't cite it at all. Yes Moramee is mentioned inside the strategy guide, but the Commander's name isn't. Also Lepidus is another Jiralhanae not related to this one. Spirit of Fire 23:02, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
I've removed references to Lepidus. Its obviously someone trying to fit in fanon. --CoH|Councillor]] SpecopsUserWiki:Specops306|306]] - Qur'a 'Morhek 23:17, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Random Brute?[edit]

Anone think he might just be a random Brute?GEARS OF WAR 2

I think he is. Sith Alchemy 101 12:56, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Tartarus[edit]

Could't the brute cheiften be Tarturus? Because its sounds a lot like him if you read his character card info. FishType1 18:01, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

"He is one of the few Brutes that respects humans" - Doesn't sound Tartarus-ish... File:United Nations logo.png|35px]]UoH|General]] Tony, Administrator of HalopediaTalk 3/09/2009
He never really expressed his feelings towards them really. The only humans you see him with are Miranda and Johnson I think. And even though (if it is Tarturas)he respects them he would have to still fight them . FishType1 18:13, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
The Brute Army Commander is apparently shorter than the average Brute, so I don't think so. Sith Alchemy 101 20:35, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

I Pvt Mike I: i think it is tartarus too because in halo contact harvest they mentioned the ritual of how to be the chieftain, a deathbattle. and in contact harvest which is in 2525 tartarus beats his uncle macabeus to death starting his reign as chieftain. now if the commander is not tartarus that would mean that a brute mustve had a deathbattle with tartarus, killing him. and since he appears in halo 2 perfectly good he certainly didnt have that battle. i know this contradicts with all the things ensemble studio wrote about the commander but hey, they also messed up with a lot of stuff like the spartans wearing mark iv armor which is not supposed to have overshields but does or the design of the mark iv. so why shouldnt they have messed up on that

Tartarus has never been described as "small" or using any Gravity Hammer other than the Fist of Rukt. Nor is Tartarus ever described as respecting humans.

I doubt it. Macceabus is a more reasonble guess, (he seemed less harsh to humans then most brutes.) but I dson't think that's right ethier.

Health[edit]

Whats his health compared to other leaders? i noticied that a MAC blast doesn't really do much against him, maybe a 1/16 of his health taken away 99.141.213.38 23:35, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Why it isnt tarturus[edit]

Sure they have similaritys but so do almost all the brutes. He doesnt have the Fist as a weapon, and is missing his signature golden pauldron.--{{SUBST:User:Whitedragon254/SigX}} 01:03, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Is it maccabeus

But Maccabeus wore, war chieftain armor.

Why not a Rank?[edit]

Why not make this article a Brute Rank? Cause so far the information implies that this article is only about a character. And if you ask me. If this is a Brute rank, it's seems to be far more higher than the Brute Chieftan rank. --Tyrone111

Uh, what?[edit]

The beginning of this article states that this particular Brute had a short stature. Is a massive 8'5" tall ape supposed to be short-statured???? Who wrote this?Fire Eater 23:10, February 5, 2010 (UTC)

Brutes are pretty tall creatures. I think they average around 10', so 8'5" would be considered short-by Brute standards. Of course by human standards, that's tall.   ΘяɪɸɴF22    Me    Talk    Contributions    CAG   23:14, February 5, 2010 (UTC)

Halo 2 Anniversary[edit]

For some time, I also had some doubts. But it's pretty clear that this page should indeed be reserved to the character himself: the Jiralhanae Army Commander from Halo Wars. He's a character and not a rank. His rank is simply established as Chieftain, and he's got some background, so he is simply a Jiralhanae Chieftain among many. Army Commander may simply be a title or some subclass, but in the end the Army Commander is just a Chieftain according to the info given about him. So the one appearing in Halo 2 Anniversary should simply be considered as a Chieftain too, and also as a distinct individual. So his image shouldn't be put on the Army Commander's page, since the page is just for the character from Halo Wars. In some way, the page "Jiralhanae Army Commander" implies "Unidentified Jiralhane Army Commander", since it's for a particular character. Imrane-117 (talk) 16:13, 25 November 2014 (EST)

I agree. While it's possible the chieftain in the terminal is the same character, there's no definite proof. The similar armor doesn't necessarily tell us anything as we know Brutes mostly use standardized gear. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 04:34, 26 November 2014 (EST)
I disagree, I think that we should just combine them for now. Otherwise we'll end up with 'Brute Army Commander 1, Brute Army Commander 2 pages. For simplicity sake we should add it.Lord 'Themee (talk) 14:09, 8 December 2014 (EST)
Not really, since the chieftain in H2A is nowhere near being notable enough to get his own page. Just like we don't have pages for every nameless Brute you encounter. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 14:26, 8 December 2014 (EST)
To put them on the same page, we would have to transform this character page into a rank page, assuming that "Army Commander" is a rank, which wasn't really what Ensemble intended, since they had said that the Army Commander's rank was "Chieftain". At best, it's some kind of title like Field Master for the Sangheili (I'd be willing to believe this, but no source really addresses this matter so far... from what I know). So the Army Commander is a Brute Chieftain which simply wears an armor variant. Compare Brute Chieftains in Halo 3 to Brute Chieftains in Halo: Reach, different armors but same rank. Until further clarification, what Ensemble said is the only reliable info we have. The "orange" (Halo Wars, Halo 2 Anniversary) and the "blue" (The Babysitter) chieftains may be part of some kind of hierarchy among Chieftains, but we don't have enough info on that. Even if we had the confirmation, I suppose it would end up on the same page as "Jiralhanae Chieftain" as a subclass or something similar, as we did for the Elite Major/Officer. Imrane-117 (talk) 18:41, 8 December 2014 (EST)
Wait actually isn't that guy Melchus? Melchus lead the massacre of the High Councilors in Broken Circle. Thoughts?Lord 'Themee (talk) 19:19, 8 December 2014 (EST)
I thought this as well. It would make sense imo SLiD1nG Pr0Xy (talk) 15:15, 14 December 2014 (EST)

Birthplace[edit]

The info box lists the JAC's birthplace as Doisac. However, the screenshot of his commander card in the gallery says his birthplace is unknown. Is there a source for Doisac and did someone just forget to source it, or is it fanon that got overlooked? SPARTAN-177 (talk) 16:27, 10 August 2015 (EDT)

Most likely speculation. I see in a lot of older articles that people used to list the homeworld of an alien character's species for the character's homeworld in the infobox. That being said, given the Jiralhanae Army Commander's apparent age based on his appearance, he was likely born on Doisac before the Covenant discovered the Jiralhanae. Nonetheless, it would still be speculation. - NightHammer(talk)(contribs) 16:31, 10 August 2015 (EDT)
True. However, I would like to point out that the Brutes' were once space-faring before blasting themselves back to the stone age. It is possible that they were able to set up lunar colonies before the First Immolation and were cut off afterwards and were only brought back into the fold after joining the Covenant. Their spaceflight years are vague and mostly unknown. SPARTAN-177 (talk) 17:03, 10 August 2015 (EDT)
Good point, it's very possible. I'd love to see some more dates on this kind of stuff. --NightHammer(talk)(contribs) 18:49, 10 August 2015 (EDT)
