The Ark[edit]

Was the Ark really destroyed after Installation 04(B) was fired? At the end of Halo 3, the Ark is seen in the background while John and Cortana are escaping on the Forward Unto Dawn. Also, a firing of the Halo array would not damage any technology due to the nature of its firing system, and even if the firing somehow managed to be able to affect Forerunner structures, the Ark was at least 15-20 times larger (File:ARK2.jpg) than the installation and it seems doubtful that it could have completely destroyed the Ark. It's not the firing itself that would have damaged the Ark, but the debris from the Halo ring after it destroyed itself. Note how 343 Guilty Spark was completely in support of a firing of 04B until he found out Chief and co. intended to fire it before it was finished being built. Had the ring been completed, the Ark itself would have emerged completely unscathed. Tuckerscreator(stalk) 18:03, 28 November 2011 (EST)
We don't necessarily know how damaged the Ark is. We're basically taking Guilty Spark's word for it: "But a premature firing will destroy the Ark!" However, one thing to keep in mind is that his sanity is in question, so much so he is about to kill Sergeant Johnson. We do know that The Halo itself will be destroyed, but the extent of the damage to the Ark is never seen. Perhaps it may even be a plot detail in Halo 4. Who knows? pestilence Phil, pestilence! 00:21, 29 November 2011 (EST)
Judging by Cortana's comment at the end of Halo 3, I would say The Ark is destroyed or damaged beyond repair.--Commander Halofan1234 (I say the cabal does not exist) 00:23, 29 November 2011 (EST)
Since High charity crashed into it at full speed and then blew up, I imagine the surface of the ring is seriously damaged by the rings destruction. However, considering it took the Ark under 4 months to almost completely rebuild a halo, it wouldn't take long to rebuild the damaged Ark. The Array seems to be programmed to repair itself, so while it may have been destroyed, we shouldn't expect it to never show up again. ProphetofTruth 01:21, 29 November 2011 (EST)
To answer to the original question, we have a fair amount of evidence for the Ark being destroyed, and none for it surviving. First, there's Spark's comment about premature firing destroying the Ark, and at least two Waypoint videos saying the Ark was obliterated. Based on that, I think it's safe to say that is the case.--Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 01:45, 29 November 2011 (EST)

"sanity is in question, so much so he is about to kill Sergeant Johnson" I thought we already agreed that he is not THAT rampant. Vegerot goes RAWR! Vegerot (talk) 08:04, 29 November 2011 (EST)

Thank you Jugus, I was unaware of the Waypoint videos that said it was obliterated. Ιι Ηη Ππ 16:45, 29 November 2011 (EST)
