Challenges are a feature of Halo: The Master Chief Collection added with the launch of Season 2: Spark. Challenges can be earned in all gameplay modes of The Master Chief Collection across all games, and upon completion provide the player rewards of XP for ranking up and Spartan Point Season Points to spend on player customisation items such as armor permutations for Halo: Reach and skins for Halo: Combat Evolved. The addition of challenges allows players who don't wish to engage in competitive matchmaking multiplayer a way to still earn progression via campaign, Firefight, custom games and even Forge.

Challenge types

Challenges are divided into three categories; Weekly PvP, Weekly PvE and Seasonal, with a special fourth category available on occasion for in-game events. The weekly challenges reset every Wednesday, providing a constant new source of activities to do, while the Seasonal challenges reset at the launch of a new Season. As such, Seasonal challenges take longer to complete but offer larger rewards.

Weekly PvP

PvP challenges can be unlocked by playing Social and Competitive multiplayer matchmaking. These challenges typically offer 15,000-25,000XP and Spartan Point 0-1, and can be unlocked for winning matches, performing kills with certain weapons/ vehicles, earning Medals and other similar tasks.

Weekly PvE

PvE challenges can be unlocked via Campaign and Firefight, involving the killing of AI enemies. They tend to revolve around completing missions and. killing certain enemy types.

Seasonal

Seasonal challenges, as their name suggests, are long-lasting challenges that take up an entire season.

Season 2: Spark challenges

The following seasonal challenges can be unlocked in Season 2: Spark. As Spark is the first season to contain challenges, no challenges are available for Season 1: Noble.
