John Forge's Warthog
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
Forge's Warthog,[1][2] also known as the Forgehog,[2] was a customized Warthog that Sergeant John Forge operated personally.[1]
Design details
Forge's Warthog is a specially customized M12G1 Gauss Warthog, kept out of motor pool circulation on the UNSC Spirit of Fire and the hands of other marines and subject to long hours of customization and tweaking.
Sergeant Forge customized the Gauss Warthog with turbochargers, roll bars, a defensive aura of nanobots to repair the vehicle, energy shielding[3], and modifications to the primary M68 Gauss cannon to allow it to fire an Anvil round. This turret can also be overcharged for increased power.[1] The vehicle also has armored doors to protect the driver and gunner and heavier armor plating visually reminiscent of the Armored Warthog created by Isabel.[3]
Forge's Warthog also has an MQ-96 Support Drone.[3]
Operational history
During the Harvest campaign and Battle for Arcadia in 2531, John Forge would often deploy in a Gauss Warthog, though it is unknown if this Warthog was the one he customised in particular.[note 1] Forge used this Warthog for fast harassment of enemy troops, and kept it out of the hands of other soldiers on the Spirit of Fire.[1]

Forge's Warthog comes equipped with energy shielding. Because Forge's Warthog is a hero unit there can only be one per player. In Blitz Forge's Warthog costs 220 energy and comes with the Rally ability to increase damage for nearby friendly units. Prior to upgrades the Warthog is effective against infantry and performs adequately against vehicles, aircraft, and structures. Once the Gauss Overcharge upgrade has been researched the Warthog will perform well against vehicles. Unlike in the original Halo Wars, Forge does not emerge from his Warthog when the vehicle is destroyed.
Trivia
- In 2018, a MEGA Construx toy set titled "Forgehog vs Banished Goliath" was released, featuring Forge's Warthog.[2]
- The Warthog always has a Gauss Cannon attached permanently, however his unit icon has a machine gun turret attached.

Notes
- ^ In the campaign of Halo Wars, Forge is often seen in a Gauss Warthog identical to other Gauss Warthogs in the game. Forge having a customised vehicle was introduced in Halo Wars 2, so it is unclear if the vehicle he employed in the first game is intended to be the custom vehicle described in the Phoenix Logs.
