How could the Precursors have hundreds of billions of years of history when the Universe is only 14 billion years old? I would check myself but I don't have the book, so can someone check to see if it says anything about what kind of years they're talking about? Because they surely aren't using earth years. -Dustin 12/24/14

Additionally, both the Forerunners and the Precursors have been shown as adept at manipulating time, or at least knowledgeable about it. The Reach crystal sent Ascendant Justice back in time to fulfill a predestination paradox. And the Primordial was kept in a temporal stasis locked prison, built either by the Precursors, or by early Forerunners who learned it from the Precursors. Even if the Precursors weren't quite transdimensional, the idea that they were transtemporal may explain the discrepancy.
