T'vao
I've brought this up on several other talk pages, it seems like T'vao is another moon of Chu'ot, not a continent on Eayn. Which would explain the physical differences between Skirmishers and Kig-Yar. Anyone mind if I change it? File:Colonel Grade One.pngCol. Snipes450File:Colonel Grade One.png 16:45, 1 February 2014 (EST)
- If you have a source backing that up, I don't see why not. — subtank 17:29, 1 February 2014 (EST)
- I am going to talk about bears and dogs. all bears are somehow related. They evolved differently due to living in different places on the same planet. They are the same species. If one (or two) bears ended up on Mars, they would evolve much more differently and thus have much more difference than between a brown bear and a polar bear. Unless the migration was recent, it is unlikely the Kig-Yar subspecies would remain that similar.
- The migration is implied in the Encyclopedia to have been relatively recent (that is to say in the last few thousand years). I doubt the Kig-Yar have been spacefaring long enough for the Skirmishers to have evolved into their current form on T'vao. The morphological differences probably existed before the subspecies that would come to settle the asteroid left Eayn. While they adapted to the new environment to some extent they unmistakably remained part of the same species. Granted, apart from having higher gravity we don't know anything about T'vao's environment in relation to Eayn's. That being said there probably hasn't been sufficient time or environmental pressure for the subspecies to diverge any more than they already have. --Our vengeance is at hand. Main image
Actually, instead of choosing the most basic Kig-Yar for the main image, we could simply make an image with three renders of the different Kig-Yar "races" all together. For example, "Humans" have more than one individual for their main image. It could show more explicitly that these variants all belong to the Kig-Yar species. A little bit like the Covenant and Humans pages on Waypoint. Might require some re-scaling of some renders, but I'm sure there are enough renders from Halo 3/4/Reach. - Good idea. I could probably whip up an image in a while. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 09:27, 23 November 2014 (EST)
- I went ahead and did a basic edit to the article. Just wondering about your thoughts on randomising the image instead. Yay or nay? — subtank 10:11, 23 November 2014 (EST)
- I'm in favor of a single image with all three subtypes (though having the three as distinct images works pretty well too). A single randomized image wouldn't be as informative and representative, particularly for readers who view the page only once. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 10:19, 23 November 2014 (EST)
- If that's the case, we'll treat the current edit as temporary. Feel free to update the introductory image. :) — subtank 10:23, 23 November 2014 (EST)
- I was thinking, if we do combine the images, we could place this one in the center, this one on the right, and the Skirmisher on the left. If that makes sense. I would make one myself, but I'm not too great at editing. - NightHammer (talk) 10:59, 23 November 2014 (EST)
- Subtank's edit looks fine. I was wondering if we could even add their respective names under each image ("Ruuhtian", "Ibie'shan" and "T'vaoan"). These names are not really explicitly said in the introduction, except for the Skirmishers. They are buried deep inside the article's "Subtypes" section; I've emboldened them there, not a long time ago, but we might as well make them more explicit in the article's top. We could either keep the infobox as Subtank edited it, with each name under its respective Kig-Yar, or make a single picture with something that says: "(From left to right) Ruuhtian, etc." But contrary to my original suggestion, I think it would be more flexible to keep them separate, as Subtank did. In case we need to change it with some future Halo 5 renders or something like that. Of course we could make a new image if it's ever needed, but I think having them separate looks quite nice, actually. EDIT: nah, scratch it, they're not to scale right now, unless there's a way to re-scale them individually easily (modifying the pixels), a new picture may be required. I'd agree with Nighthammer, but perhaps I'd put the Skirmisher to the right, assuming they're the least significant and that we read from left to right. - I was just having them generally placed based on the direction they are looking at (again, if that makes sense). - NightHammer (talk) 11:12, 23 November 2014 (EST)
- Yeah, I wasn't thinking about that actually. Imrane-117 (talk) 11:17, 23 November 2014 (EST)
- I'm not so sure why we need to place much emphasis on which subspecies goes where. Anyway, I've made more minor amendments.— subtank 11:32, 23 November 2014 (EST)
