- "HuCiv's GENET coupe redefines compact luxury."
- — From an advertisment of the Genet
The Genet is a popular high-volume coupe manufactured by HuCiv.[1] The vehicle was the most popular personal transport in New Mombasa for three years preceding 2550.[citation needed] A number of municipal law enforcement agencies have contracted HuCiv to provide durable high-performance police interceptors based off of the Genet, including the New Mombasa Police Department.[1][3] The police variant is slightly larger than the civilian Genet.[2]
Design details
The Genet is a compact, high-volume coupe, with several model trims ranging from eco-accessible, to track-ready.[1] Like nearly all cars used in New Mombasa and elsewhere on Earth, the Genet includes roadware that allows the car to pilot itself while driving and keeps the car connected to the planet's surveillance grid.
It comes in several colors. Some of which are red, blue, and green.
Trivia
- Like many human vehicles, particularly those used by the UNSC, the Genet is named after an animal. A genet is a small cat-like carnivore native to Africa.
- The license plates in the vehicles throughout the city contain multiple references to the characters of the series in Halo 3: ODST.
- Multiple idle NMPD Genets are seen by the Rookie. They were possibly used as road blocks by the police in an attempt to delay the Covenant, or were simply abandoned. Their lights will flash to indicate points of interest, to indicate Audio Logs close by, for instance. Every Genet in the game has the same number on the left side of its side windows: 1031. They also have on the back their model number 1500XLD and the police have 1500XLD-S. Additionally, one Genet was seen at least partially destroyed due to passenger compartment damage, but lights were still functioning.
- In Halo: Spartan Strike, you can actually destroy the vehicle using a Grizzly by running over it. This, however, will damage you due to the explosion that occurs when it is destroyed.
