Archive:Requests for Merger/Raid of Reach - March 2010
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
Seeing that Halo: Reach will most likely elaborate and expand the Battle of Reach, I think it's fair to say that the Raid of Reach is certainly part of the Battle of Reach with continuous ground battles between the UNSC and the Covenant and as such should be merged with the said article. It is likely to happen and this has been supported with Bungie's assertion of not following the novel's plot and that we will be able to witness more events that extends the battle to Operation: FIRST STRIKE. This is similar to the events from H3:ODST which confirms that there were no Second Battle of Earth as Truth deployed his forces moments after Regret bugged out of Mombasa. —This unsigned comment was made by -Ascension- (talk • contribs). - Furthermore, the "Raid of Reach" only refers to the events of 7 September when the Installation 04 survivors returned. The game "Halo: Reach" does not go as far as the 7th, as the Covenant have already glassed everywhere but Menachite mountain by then. The game's plot seems to suggest that the events of the battle take place over a period of maybe two or three days as opposed to over a week. Continuing, it is the same Covenant force against the same UNSC force (under the same UNSC commander) as opposed to something similar to out early thoughts of the "First" and "Second" battles of Earth, in which the Covenant retreat and a new fleet takes their place weeks later. If this article is not merged with "Fall of Reach", it should at the very least be recognised on the Fall of Reach article as part of the battle - everything there says that it lasted one day and that was it.-- Forerunner 15:07, August 5, 2010 (UTC)

- Support - At the very least we should actually have Raid information on the Fall of Reach article.-- Forerunner 15:27, July 7, 2010 (UTC)

Neutral (2/0)
- Neutral - While I understand your assertion about Halo: Reach, we still cannot presume what will happen. While Reach will most likely expand on what happened between Reach's partial glassing and John's return to the planet, we should not jump to such conclusions until we are certain. - File:Black Mesa.jpg Halo-343 (Talk) (Contribs) (Edits) 18:39, April 14, 2010 (UTC)
- Added New Content Template. ---->File:Gunnery Sergeant.png Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 (Personal Favorite). 18:48, April 14, 2010 (UTC)
- The recent BWU suggests that it all happens within a few days. Besides, the "raid" was only when John got back.-- Forerunner 00:09, July 31, 2010 (UTC)
- Neutral - As per Halo-343. - JEA13 [iTalk] 09:36, July 11, 2010 (UTC)
Oppose (2/0)
- Oppose This is a series of conflicts during the fall of reach, it's be akin to merging the The Battle of Earth with the Human-Coveant War. Jabberwock xeno 23:11, May 8, 2010 (UTC)
- But wait where does it say this is different from the Fall of Reach. SPARTAN-125 Cally99117
- I never said it was. I said that it was a part of the Fall of Reach Conflict. not to mention the time-space warping that occured that complicates everything. Jabberwock xeno 15:46, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

- Oppose - The Fall of Reach was essentially that; the fall of Reach. This event happened after the planet fell, when the Covenant were mopping up. I strongly oppose this merger. File:Commander Silver Leaf.PNG Kougermasters (Talk) (Contribs) (Edits) 09:32, July 11, 2010 (UTC)
Comments
As I said in my vote, if we don't merge them, we should at the very least acknowledge the Raid events as part of the Fall of Reach. The timeline only shows the first few hours of a battle that lasted 2-3 weeks.-- Forerunner 09:38, July 11, 2010 (UTC)
