Sergeant Kress was a UNSC Marine non-commissioned officer during the Human-Covenant War.[1]

Biography

Sergeant Kress was stationed on a UNSC Marine outpost when it came under assault by Covenant forces. During the battle, the Covenant sent waves of Jiralhanae soldiers on a suicide mission to devastate the marines left inside the base. Following a wave attack, Kress was notified by the station's AI, Beatrix, that she was the highest-ranking marine in the outpost and was to assume command of the remaining troops. When Beatrix offered to assist Kress before becoming non-operational, Kress instructed her to message UNSC Command to send them support.

After being alerted of another incoming wave of enemy troops, Kress asked Beatrix where the Jiralhanae would be heading. Beatrix informed her that a breach in the base's western section was their likely target to enter from. Sergeant Kress then took point and led her marines to the western corridor to keep the Jiralhanae at bay until support could arrive. However, the persistence of Atriox and his fellow warriors overwhelmed the marines and soon forced them to retreat. As the marines fought and fell, Beatrix kept Sergeant Kress updated on their dwindling numbers. After Kress and another survivor made it to a vehicle bay full of Warthogs, Kress told Beatrix to shut up about their numbers and inquired if Command's reinforcements would arrive. Beatrix could only apologize to Kress before her backup servers failed and she perished, leaving Kress to deal with the Jiralhanae.

Kress then made a last-ditch effort to take out as many Jiralhanae soldiers as possible and escape. Starting up a Warthog, she accelerated and made a break for the exit by mowing down enemies in her path, while her gunner let loose a barrage of turret bullets. As they fled from the outpost, Atriox took aim at the last two survivors with a Type-33 fuel rod gun and fired at their warthog. The fuel rod detonated and destroyed their vehicle, leaving Kress as the last survivor standing. Armed with just a combat knife, Kress tried her best to squared off against Atriox but was no match for him.[1]
