About Me Version 1.1

This is my first version of my userwiki. I hope to make this more useful for users who wish to use this to their advantage so I can help them.

Howdy folks I am CIA391, but y'all can call me Chris.

I am a gamer who tries to keep on top of things. If you have any questions please PM me and I will try my best to answer. Or I will show you to someone who can help.

I am rather active here. And will always respond if talked too. You may reach me here, on Halo Waypoint, on Halo Archive, on Twitter, or through the Halopedia Discord.

I personally love a good chat. I hope we can all be friends. (^-^)/

Sandboxes and other personal projects

Needs purged or cleansed

  • Pre-2012 Profiles and additional materials: This needs to be done so the following two things are slightly easier to wipe.
  • Halopedia:News: This needs to be re purposed. But articles need to be cleaned and archived.
  • Halopedia:The_Oracle_Newsletter: This needs to be purged. With the articles being fused with the archive of the news section.
  • https://www.halopedia.org/Category:User_Groups: This area needs to be purged.
  • Wipe unused Templates and Categories from this purge.

Halopedia improvement project

Phase 1 Main Wiki stuff

Step 1 Tidy up

This step is getting the wiki in a usable state and allows us to make radical changes.

  • 1. Tidy the wiki by getting majority of the pages in the Special Pages areas tidy.
  • 2. Clear out Project Userbox, and tidy up the mess it causes.
  • 3. Clear out old forums and other group related materials predating 2012. This allows us to have a clean slate.

Step 2 Policy's and Rules

This step is getting the wiki rules, policies, guidelines, and other similar stuff up to date.

  • 1. Get the Admin, Patroller, Rollbacker and other roles and ranks more defined.
  • 2. Get the Policies more defined and updated.
  • 3. Get the Guidelines more defined and updated.

Step 3 Improve the Main page

This step is improving the main page of the wiki and its navigation bar.

  • 1. Talk possible improvements with admins.
  • 2. Talk possible improvements with Patrollers and Rollbackers.
  • 3. Implement said improvements if possible.
  • 4. Ask for possible improvements from Halopedians and make a list.
  • 5. Keep list for future updates.

Step 4 Conventions

This step is to improve and implement our Template/Category/File naming conventions we have. Also make better the source conventions. This will be defined in the Policies and Rules step but is something expanded upon here.

  • 1. Decide what will be used for sources and naming conventions.
  • 2. Start using the new conventions.
  • 3. Update old names to suit the new conventions.
  • 4. Update the old sources to suit the new conventions.

Phase 2 Keeping us going

Step 5 Internal Community improvement

This step is getting the wiki community fun

  • 1. Reset featured articles for a clean slate.
  • 2. Add community events on the wiki.
    • 2.1. Monthly polls.(Example)
    • 2.2. Weekly featured articles/pictures/videos for users to vote for.(rotate them monthly so the homepage is more dynamic)
    • 2.3. Aprils fools day and other holiday celebrations.(we make a special Wiki skin for the holidays)
  • 3. Make more dynamic news. More detailed and have a image to help.
  • 4. Community Update on the Homepage.
  • 5. Be welcoming to new members.

Step 6 External Community improvement

This step is to help build relations with other communities outside our internal wiki one.

  • 1. Tidy and add to the Halopedia Community Portal using my other Community hubs as a example.
  • 2. Use the Community portal to add community's to the Sidebar.
  • 3. Start a Halopedia Twitter and Facebook and give admins access to them.
  • 4. Add a bot to the Twitter and possibly Facebook so some automated posts are done to make life easier on the admins.
  • 5. Add posts on Featured stuff from step 5.
  • 6. Add Admin and Patroller made projects.

Step 7 Get more Patrollers and Rollbackers

This step is to help encourage members to become Rollbackers and Patrollers.

Phase 3 Keeping our work looking great

Step 8 Content

This step is generally what already happens, but is here so people have stuff to work on.

Step 9 Keeping an eye on stuff

This step is kinda just the stuff that needs to be kept an eye on so they dont go out of hand in the future.

  • 1. Keep an eye on the Special:SpecialPages to make sure they are kept in check.
  • 2. Keep a possible way to get feedback on the Main Page and impliment the improvements we get or remove outdated stuff.
  • 3. Update Old naming conventions to the new ones as done in Step 4.
  • 4. Update old source conventions to the new ones as done in Step 4.
  • 5. Keep updating the stuff we do in Step 5.
  • 6. Keep the twitter and Facebook active with content.
  • 7. Keep up with Step 7 unless we have plenty of them.
  • 8. Keep up with 8 in general like we do already.

Project the Great Wiki Con

This is a potiential concept I will propose after Halopedia and Halo Nation make it to a state they are both Happy with their wikis.

The concept is holding a Booth or Panel at a Convention of some sort with both Halopedia and Halo Nation Members. The main reason this has to be a joint effort is that its unlikely Halopedia or Halo Nation alone can hold up a successful booth or panel on their own. So pairing up for such a project is required.

Potiential benefits include exposure for both sites. Friendship with Halo Nation and potiential future partnerships. And getting individuals out there who are good at talking to folk.
