Fleet Master, occasionally rendered as Fleetmaster, is a title given to individuals in command of task forces and fleets within the Covenant military.[2] Prior to the dawn of the Great Schism, the title was given to the Jiralhanae.[1]
Rank
Whenever a fleet or smaller task force is needed for any mission away from the entirety of the Covenant's navy a fleet master will be assigned and given command of several warships for the mission. In this regard, they could be considered the Covenant equivalent to a UNSC rear admiral. They normally operate from a large warship, such as a ORS-class heavy cruiser, as when Fleet Master Voro Nar 'Mantakree operated from the ORS-class cruiser Incorruptible during the Battle of Onyx.[3]
When Voro 'Mantakree was promoted from a Sangheili Major to a Fleet Master, an extra part was added to his name, making it Voro Nar 'Mantakree. Fleet masters can order tweaks on starships for their fleet during the ship's construction.[4]
Known Fleet Masters
- Rtas 'Vadum - Shipmaster of the assault carrier Shadow of Intent; current fleet master of the Fleet of Retribution.
- Thel 'Vadam - Former fleet master of the Fleet of Particular Justice.[5]
- Voro Nar 'Mantakree - Shipmaster of the Incorruptible, who led a fleet to follow the Bloodied Spirit to Onyx.
- Kantar 'Utaralee - Fleet master of an unidentified fleet.[6]
- Unidentified shipmaster - Current shipmaster of an unknown assault carrier; current fleet master of the Fleet of Righteous Vigilance.
