Anti-gravity belt
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
The antigravity belt, sometimes shortened to antigrav belt,[1] is a San'Shyuum personal transportation device. Worn around the waist of the user, the belt levitates its wearer above the ground in a manner similar to the anti-gravity chair. The San'Shyuum use these devices to avoid walking, as they are a fairly feeble race.[2]
During the Sangheili-San'Shyuum war in the ancient past, San'Shyuum warriors wore antigravity belts which provided them a greater deal of mobility than antigravity chairs. Some higher-ranked San'Shyuum, including High Lord Mken 'Scre'ah'ben, used antigravity belts as a secondary means of transport in the event the individual desired to temporarily vacate their chair.[3] The belt's gravity-manipulation mechanism also supported its wearer during extreme acceleration of a spacecraft, for example, preventing them from being thrown about uncontrollably.[4]
The use of antigravity belts alone is relatively rare; nearly all mature San'Shyuum in the Covenant used anti-gravity chairs as their primary form of transport.[5] The Prophet of Stewardship preferred a belt over a chair either out of habit, or because it allowed him to loom over otherwise taller races such as the Sangheili, granting him a form of artificial physical power symbolic of the political and religious power wielded by the Prophets within the Covenant.[6]
