Banyan tree

The Banyan tree, also known as Bargad or Vata, is an evergreen tree that grows to an average height of around 100 feet (30.48 meters). It is easily identified by its aerial roots, which hang from its branches. These roots will eventually become embedded in the ground and become minor trunks. The leaves are broad, oval and glossy. If broken, a white, milky fluid oozes out of the leaves. Most banyans are related to the common fig tree.
Banyan trees were one of many Earth plants introduced to Onyx by humans, as the planet's biosphere allowed the transplantation of Earth flora.[1] One of these large tropical trees was used to house an observation platform, nicknamed the "tree house", by Lieutenant Commander Kurt Ambrose.[2]
