Triggers and switches ResearchEdit
I put up a map in my (vennificus) file share called "trigger 002" in which I've made four distinct types of trigger switch Actions mainly relying on fusion coils and power ups to act as a stationary switch.
1) rail switch, drives a block along a tunnel after shooting the fusion coils
2) Portcullis, drops a series of radio antennae after running through a hallway, don't get caught between them, firebombs are there for your convenience
3) Fire tower Gamma- uses an equip type grav-lift to launch a pair of fusion coils into a man cannon
4) Fire tower Beta, similar design to Fire tower alpha (moshpit) uses a power up to hold up a radio tower that holds up a fusion coil, the tower drops releasing the coil into a man cannon, the problem is that the fusion coil often gets caught under the lip of the tower (either end) and has to despawn before the tower drops. Differs from Fire tower alpha only in fusion coil delivery, FTa uses a scenery grav-lift on a weapon holder to propel the coil. If anyone would like to view it it is available for download here
I'd edit this myself but I haven't read the style page yet.
Most of these Ideas are based off of the "Drawnbridge V.2" map also available in the bungie fileshare

Don't Merge ThisEdit
I'm just saying this in advance, in case the idea comes up. To anyone who thinks this should be merged with Forge/Tricks:
Switches are an expansive topic -- really, they could be considered an entire field of study. There are huge numbers of switches and huge numbers of uses for them; different techniques, methods of construction, etc., etc.. The topic requires enough detail that a single section in Forge/Tricks would not be enough to accommodate the topic; a separate article is needed. Don't DeleteEdit
This page is needed as it is a very in-depth part of forging and as people have pointed out before me, this page shouldn't be merged with the "Forge" page either. --Ching Chong Kid 01:16, April 8, 2010 (UTC)
Halo:Reach switchesEdit
The problem with switches in Forge is that all items under the structure category apparently stay still once they stop moving and are completely immobile until a monitor picks it up again (even when their physics are switched to normal). Are there any ways to fix this, or do you have to stick to crates, and things like that? Wrathanet 20:59, 28 November 2010 (EST)
- Tried out some other items as well. Apparently, an object is only able to be pushed around outside of Forge mode if it's physics is normal by default. Wrathanet 18:48, 1 December 2010 (EST)
