WritingEdit
I did some rewriting and expansion, though not nearly enough for my liking. I was away today, and I'll be away tomorrow, but I'll try to get back to this with more references, particularly Fall of Reach, First Strike, Ghosts of Onyx and Halo: Reach, which comprise the meat-and-potatoes of Halo space combat. -- Qura 'Morhek The Autocrat of Morheka 04:54, 23 February 2015 (EST)
- I've taken some crude notes from TFoR, FS and GoO but I never have enough time to format the info into a presentable form. Nonetheless, it's good to see this getting expanded. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 10:39, 23 February 2015 (EST)
- I've been adding references as best I can, using a combination of my own novels and references on other articles for what I don't have. Still not close to done, and I imagine we'll need to format the citations. Point of clarity - Help: References doesn't say (unless I missed it) but is it acceptable to put footnotes in the middle of a sentence, or at the end of it as in the MHRA system I've been using for university referencing? -- Qura 'Morhek The Autocrat of Morheka 09:07, 25 February 2015 (EST)
- Generally I like to reserve mid-sentence citations for those cases where it's necessary to be very specific, but most of the time I prefer putting them at the end as this looks much tidier. But I don't think we have an official policy either way. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 11:34, 25 February 2015 (EST)

Ground warfareEdit
Given the upcoming Halo: Ground Command, should we create a "Ground warfare" article too? It could detail ground strategies, as well as vehicles and the organization of troops. --NightHammer(talk)(contribs) 13:10, 4 April 2016 (EDT)
- I'm sure we have enough material already for a considerable Ground Warfare article. it would also clarify how things stand outside of the Covenant's naval supremacy - I've seen a lot of people who assumed the Covenant also outmatched humanity on the ground, which is not the case unless supported by orbital support or overwhelming numbers. -- Qura 'Morhek The Autocrat of Morheka 23:10, 4 April 2016 (EDT)
- Edit: though we should make an article, the name should be "Planetary warfare" rather than "ground warfare," which ignored air and sea forces. -- Qura 'Morhek The Autocrat of Morheka 02:11, 5 April 2016 (EDT)
- Actually, on reflection, it might better to expand our War article. -- Qura 'Morhek The Autocrat of Morheka 04:07, 5 April 2016 (EDT)
- While we should probably expand the war article as well, I still think it would be better to have a separate article for ground warfare. As for air, we could merge it with ground/space warfare (as a majority of air vehicles are both atmosphere and vacuum rated) or make another article for aerial warfare. --NightHammer(talk)(contribs) 11:46, 5 April 2016 (EDT)
- I think aerial, ground and wet navy warfare could be neatly covered under "Planetary warfare" as Morhek first suggested. It would be a bit random to detail ground/air/sea warfare in the War article while still having a separate page for space warfare. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 15:18, 5 April 2016 (EDT)
- Agreed. In the future, if we actually ever get enough info on aerial and sea, we can split the article. --NightHammer(talk)(contribs) 17:53, 5 April 2016 (EDT)
- A section on air combat might be an ideal place to describe how orbital support figures into ground campaigns. I've started a draft here, which people are welcome to edit, but I'd rather we have a full article before posting and linking to it. -- Qura 'Morhek The Autocrat of Morheka 05:15, 6 April 2016 (EDT)
