As far as I recall the ONI building in New Alexandria is never referred to as Olympic Tower. The Fall of Reach places Olympic Tower inside the FLEETCOM Military Complex, which itself is in the Highland Mountains on the other side of the planet. Did we just assume that ONI couldn't have more than one skyscraper on Reach? --Our answer is at hand. (Talk to me.) 11:19, 30 March 2015 (EDT)
- Reach definitely calls the building "Olympic Tower" somewhere — I believe it was either the in-game NAV point or objective description (EDIT: it's in a NAV point callout), though it's only called "ONI HQ" and such in dialog. But you're right in that its placement in New Alexandria is definitely a discrepancy, unless we're willing to ignore that HUD annotation. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 11:34, 30 March 2015 (EDT)
- Ah. So there's another discrepancy that should have been fixed in the reprint. --Our answer is at hand. (Talk to me.) 11:51, 30 March 2015 (EDT)
- I don't have the novel with me at work, but doesn't it just say in The Fall of Reach that Halsey was offered a corner office in Olympic Tower without it saying where exactly it was located? I didn't get the impression Olympic Tower was in the Castle complex. I may have missed a data point linking it explicitly. -ScaleMaster117 (talk) 12:00, 30 March 2015 (EDT)
- The Fall of Reach states that Olympic Tower was part of FLEETCOM HQ ("They had offered her a corner office in the prestigious Olympic Tower at FLEETCOM HQ." — p. 230, 2001 edition) which can be assumed to refer to the same complex CASTLE and the Spartans' training facilities are located in. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 12:04, 30 March 2015 (EDT)
- I guess I'm wondering what explicitly links FLEETCOM HQ with CASTLE. From context from the pages 229-230, it starts with the setting being Reach UNSC Military Complex, Omega Wing (which is the part called CASTLE, and the exposition talks about how it's her new digs and that it's deep underground with no windows. No mention of FLEETCOM HQ. Then, it talks about the successes of the Spartans and then her being offered "a corner office in the prestigious Olympic Tower at FLEETCOM HQ". Why not just say "here"? It would seem that FLEETCOM HQ is somewhere other than the Reach Military Complex since they're calling attention to the place name. In Halsey's Journal, (June 28, 2525 entry), It speaks of her being offered the corner suite at Olympic Tower. We know she didn't take the offer as she actually works underground. It then says CASTLE will be her new home. -ScaleMaster117 (talk) 18:39, 30 March 2015 (EDT)
- I suppose I just always assumed "FLEETCOM HQ" was located somewhere in the greater FLEETCOM Military Complex as I've understood it as being a rather massive concentration of both surface and underground facilities with CASTLE being merely one section of it. It's true that nothing explicitly links the "FLEETCOM HQ" with the FLEETCOM Military Complex, though I've always thought this was implicit in The Fall of Reach. Though with Reach we must assume they're separate, this still leaves us with an inconsistency: page 300 of the original edition of TFoR has a massive force of Covenant attacking "FLEETCOM HQ" on August 30th, implying that the HQ was still intact that day. If the HQ was located in New Alexandria, as Reach indicates with its placement of the Olympic Tower, there would've been nothing left for the Covenant to conquer by then. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 00:56, 31 March 2015 (EDT)
