Wow so it was Cortana's fault James and Linda died. (Well Linda got severely injured, but if she was alive then she would have been a great asset to Captain Keyes on Alpha Halo) —əґыţєґιιб
COALMINER over SURGEONEdit
I believe COALMINER to be Ackerson, rather than SURGEON. From what we know of S-III, only a few ONI leaders; Kurt; Mendez; the Hopeful and trainers knew of their existence early on. In his report, COALMINER described Kurt like he has met him; he also fails to mention the project leader - James Ackerson. I am interested by his codename, too. Ackerson happened to work in CASTLE base, a repurposed mine. The two are also on Reach at the same time.-- Forerunner 15:43, 18 December 2010 (EST)
- I think it's fairly obvious that SURGEON could never be Ackerson, simply because he had survived the war whereas Ackerson did not. The identity of COALMINER could be anyone: we know became aware of the presence of Colonel Holland as Noble Team's caretaker; he seem to have been in the SPARTAN-III Program for quite a while and had shown some faith in the SPARTANs, unlike Ackerson. It might be him.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 15:59, 18 December 2010 (EST)
- I decided to discount Holland as the communiqué was sent in th time of Alpha company; the concept of an S-III team being witnessed by non-target humans was NOBLE, which as activated a decade later - their method of insertion at the time was entirely Naval, and an Army branch-out may not have even been dreamed of. Ackerson seems to be fine with his S-III program, and only appears to have a dislike for the S-IIs because of money and his distrust of Halsey- Forerunner 16:17, 18 December 2010 (EST)
- I think you missed the point of my comment; the presence of Colonel Holland as caretaker of Noble Team shows that Ackerson is not the only one Army personnel involved in the S-III Program; we do not know when, but we know he has an involvement in the program. This involvement shows that there are a significant number of high-ranking Army personnel being involved in the program, either being a right-hand man of Ackerson or an attaché by ONI (i.e. another Army-Naval liaison) to keep things in check. But then again, nothing is certain about the identity of COALMINER. Too many open paths.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 16:42, 18 December 2010 (EST)
