The article says that how the barrier works is unknown. Perhaps it is speed based; if something is moving at x kilometers per second, it is unable to pass through. I recall a similar explanation is used in Mass Effect to explain why chairs aren't repulsed by shields.--99.247.195.232 17:04, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

More probably, it is based on size and speed--sufficiently small objects moving at sufficiently low speeds will not penetrate. Grenades are thrown at speeds higher than most infantry can run, so they are blocked. A Wraith tank is slow, but it is large enough to be blocked by the shield. Explosive shrapnel and projectiles will be stopped by the barrier due to their high speed. The area opposite the shield generator is a weak spot. Most probably is that it is NOT based on speed. It might be based on mass or volume. Because if you'll make your vehicle move very slow, it will still be unable to penetrate the Anti-Vehicle barrier. Rezo 'Scratoqee File:LocustHW.png|38px]] (Talk) 18:29, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

Halo 3: odst barriersEdit

Should the barriers from halo 3 odst have their own page? Because they seem to function differently form these, they are anti personnel.

First, sign your comments on talk pages, Wr1ghty. When you edit a talk page, a message appears above the edit box explaining how to do so.
Second, given that the barriers aren't mentioned in this article, this talk page isn't the right place to bring this up. You'd probably get a better answer on Talk:Main Page.
Third, I don't know, I haven't played ODST. But I know that there are anti-personnel barriers in Halo 3 -- one is used to imprison Sergeant Major Johnson in Sierra 117. If that barrier has its own article, then the Sierra 117 article should have a link to it. File:DavidJCobb_Emblem.svg|16px]] DavidJCobb  18:55, October 1, 2009 (UTC)
These anti-personnel and anti-matériel barriers should be having an own article. They are able to protect themselves from being destroyed and will not let units on foot penetrate the barrier. Rezo 'Scratoqee File:LocustHW.png|38px]] (Talk) 18:32, August 24, 2010 (UTC)
