Slipspace portals are Forerunner slipstream space transit systems, designed to transport enormous amounts of mass between two fixed points on a continuing basis.[1][2] Portals are limited, however, and can be strained or even destroyed if their transit capacity is exceeded.[3]
Large constructs, such as the Halo installations, could be transported across interstellar distances through the use of portals. The generator device for one such portal leading to Installation 00 was buried near the town of Voi on Earth.[4]
