Sniper Jackals are newer rank additions for the Jackals of the Covenant. Unlike standard infantry Jackals, Sniper Jackals do not carry Jackal Personal Arm Shields. They wield long range weaponry, serving as the Covenant's answer to UNSC Marine sharpshooters.
Combat
Sniper Jackals are extremely clever. They always wield Beam Rifles and hide themselves out of sight, preferring to station themselves in open spaces to attack from long range. If an enemy gets to close to the sniper Jackal, it will drop its rifle and pull out a Plasma Pistol sidearm. Still, without their shields, Sniper Jackals with pistols are easier to kill.
