A turning point for humanity, as we make first contact with the Covenant, which begins the Ninth Age of Reclamation. During this time, the Spartans graduate and enter their first mission. Soon after, the Covenant contact becomes widely known and conflict arises quickly. The Human-Covenant War begins.

- SPARTAN-IIs undergo rigerous biological, chemical, physical and biological augmentations. Thirty three successfully pass the alterations. Thirty subjects die, and twelve are perminently disabled. [4]

- Funeral service for those who died undergoing augmentations in the SPARTAN-II program. [5]
April
20th
- UNSC Argo arrives in the Epsilon Indi System and makes a confirmation transmission. No further reports are received.
21st
22nd
- John-117 kills two soldiers from the 105th ODSTC Division in a scuffle aboard UNSC Atlas. [7]
July
1st
- Mack begins burying the maglev strands of the Tiara. [8]
10th
- UNSC Heracles, UNSC Arabia and UNSC Vostok' enter the Harvest System. A Covenant ship destroys Vostok and Arabia. [9]
- The Covenant ship broadcasts the following message: "Your destruction is the will of the Gods…and we are their instrument". [10]
September
11th
- SPARTAN-IIs train with MJOLNIR I armor aboard the Reach UNSC Military Complex. Dr. Halsey determines the soldiers are ready for their first mission. [11]
12th
- SPARTAN-IIs are briefed on their first mission aboard the Destroyer UNSC Pioneer. [12]
- John-117 is promoted to Petty Officer Third Class. [13]
14th
- Colonel Robert Watts is captured by the SPARTAN-IIs on Epsilon Eridani. [14]
November
1st
- UNSC is put on full alert for the Covenant. [15]
2nd
- The SPARTAN-IIs are informed of hostile contact with the Covenant and the fate of Harvest. They are introduced to Project MJOLNIR. [16]
27th
- The Battle of Chi Ceti.
- The SPARTAN-IIs are attacked by a Covenant ship while aboard the UNSC Commonwealth above Chi Ceti 4. The Spartans escape to the surface of the planet. [17]
- Within the UNSC Damascus Materials Testing Facility, the SPARTAN-IIs are introduced and fitted with the MJOLNIR Mk. IV armor. [18]
- The SPARTAN-IIs board the Covenant ship with their MJOLNIR armor. They plant explosives at the ship's reactor and detonate them, destroying the ship. [19]
- Samuel-034 dies during the destruction of the Covenant ship. [20]
