Nomination
I, CommanderTony, nominate HaloDude for adminship of Halopedia.
Nominee, please accept or defer the above nomination below this line.
I accept? Yeah, ok, I accept I guess. HaloDude 12:24, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Reason for nomination
HaloDude has shown that he can do outstanding and great work for Halopedia and it's members. He is a somewhat popular Halopedian that has a lot of support of many Veteran members. I think he can be both an asset to the Administration and Halopedia. "The Dude" has also been a central figure in the CoH|Covenant of Halopedia]] for many months, and his appointment to Councilor has helped the usergroup greatly.

- Why? He has done great work and has leadership experience, whats the issue? EwCDnaudee 20:01, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- Really, I get fed up when people ask me why I oppose all the RfAs previously, firslty, I don't even know HaloDude until this years January, and one of the most key point is to contribute enough to Halopedia to become an adept member (which, in reference to his contributions), and secondly, in reference to the question below, I don't think he seems serious on about this RfAs, and I think with such playful behaviour, it's not suitable for being an admin, if he can just improve I guess I will vote for him! MasterChiefPettyOfficerSpartan Contribution 11:39, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- Um, playful behaviour? This RfA was a complete shock to me, after all, I never saw myself being considered for a position as an admin. But, you've completely lost me with the 'playful' behaviour part. But even so, being an admin doesn't mean you can't display playful behaviour, so long as you take the position seriously. HaloDude 17:52, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah im lost on that part too. What it comes down to is being able to do your job to the best of your ability, whether it be as a Councilor, a General or an Admin. He has that ability and has already been a Councilor in the CoH for a while, he meets all the qualifications as a leader and has the potential to become an Admin. If anything this "Playful Behavior" is something we may needin an Admin. position considering the only other Admin. that seems playful, cool and understanding is Manticore and sometimes CommanderTony. All the others just do thier job, so this could be a good change in Halopedia's leadership. EwCDnaudee 08:59, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- That's the problem, in reference to the answers for the RfAs nomination, there's a question regarding to good relation with the community, you've said you once walked out of RR's lecture, I don't have the slightest idea what you're meaning but I think it's a playful act with trivial matters, which certainly (if possible) express your playful act. What with the other admins with playful behavior, they've shown good leadership and most of all, experience. I might be wrong about you HaloDude, you can contact me through messages on my board. MasterChiefPettyOfficerSpartan Contribution 11:51, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- He has a lot of experience, both as a user and in leadership positions (Councilor). RR's lecture was also on nueroscience or stem cells I would think, your telling me that you wouldnt walk out on that? (No offense RR but thats some boring stuff dude) Playfullness is not a mortal sin and I still believe that it would benefit Halopedia. EwCDnaudee 00:34, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
- The point isn't on RR's lecture, but mentioning such trivial thing in a playful manner would not benefit Halopedia! MasterChiefPettyOfficerSpartan Contribution 10:00, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

- The thing showed he had a sense of humor - hardly a bad trait for someone who's duties will include moderation of teenagers. The only reason I can figure out for "playful" to be a problem is you're worried if he doesn't take the job seriously and doesn't do it in a mature and competent manner. However, considering that he has performed excellently both as Moderator on IRC and as a Councilor on CoH by most accounts, and most individuals including multiple admins and fellow operators have rated him as doing a good job and being mature, I'm not sure you are giving him enough credit. As for not seeing him and not knowing who he is, I would like to point out that he resides in Britain while, IIRC, you're online during the North American evening - what would equate to the time he's asleep, normally. This is not, BTW, an opposition to how you're voting right now because I do believe that someone who feels they haven't learnt enough about the candidate to make a fair assessment of their skill and character should not support the candidate, merely an issue with saying that it makes HD less of a reasonable candidate for Administrator.
- The fact of the matter is HaloDude has been a well respected community member as long as I've been here - indeed, Manticore tried to get him opped only a few days after RR handed me ops back in August last year. The fact that he got the recognition of the admins that long ago should tell you that there might be something about him. It might not be enough for you to vote based upon heresay - nor would I recommend it. However, it should be enough for you to at least recognize that you don't know enough about him and that the information provided in 14 one-sentence answers below is not going to give you a complete understanding of his character. --forgottenlord 18:26, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- Exactly my point. EwCDnaudee 19:26, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, well, maybe I'm wrong about such, and yeah, I know not much about him and really is that because we should vote for him just because he is popular and playful? I mean, don't blame me for not knowing him, it isn't my fault I haven't seen you guys on IRC, meaning I don't know much about him then any of you do, but at least he should prove himself more, that's all! MasterChiefPettyOfficerSpartan Contribution 11:43, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- You want to criticize his skill or his contributions to the community, I'm not going to fight you - others might, but those are things you can objectively analyze so that's your business. However, you took on his character, you claimed that one line he said in the 14 answers below said that his character wasn't the type needed for administrator and that's where I take issue with your vote. I don't care if your reason for not voting for him is that you don't know him well enough - in fact, I applaud you if that's why you abstain. However, don't tell me he is "too playful" if you don't know him. I didn't cast my vote because he was playful - I know he is, but that's not why I cast my vote. I cast my voted because he is a mature and responsible individual who has performed his duties in past jobs excellently. I don't need you to vote for him, I need you to stop claiming he's too playful because you don't know that. --forgottenlord 14:31, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Oppose -- From my experience with him, he seems to take liberties with the rules. His edit quality is good, but anyone who cannot follow rules concretely does not have my vote. We are all flawed, and may step over the line from time to time, but the frequency of misdemeanors is disquieting.

- I'm not exactly proud of any edits in particular, but in fact with a period of my editing. If anyone is interested, check the CoH promotions page, find when I was promoted to Ultra. Then look at all the edits before that date. Also, whilst you're on the promotions page, you can see that I answer the majority of the requests, despite not being regularly on the wiki. - You did not follow the rules when I was banned for 24 Hrs. from the #Halopedia IRC channel. There are clearly rules for that. I got a warning, then banned. And there is the reasoning. SPARTAN-118
- I guess I should mention that I've done many moderation action reviews so I'm very curious as to the situation that you are clearly incensed about. It should be noted that the warning/kick/ban pattern is the standard procedure for dealing with most rules violations, but moderator discretion is promoted to act differently as the situation warrants it. Less problematic infractions will acquire many more warnings or kicks before you get a ban while extremely serious infractions will give you lengthy bans without warning. Moderators on #halopedia are trained with this information and generally have enough experience and have witnessed enough incidents that they tend to have a good feel for what a particular incident would be classified with. It is for this reason that I never recommended a ban be overturned or a moderator reprimanded without an actual log to look at, as often moderators see things or have historical information that the user isn't aware as being relevant to the incident in question. --forgottenlord 04:29, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, you was acting like a fool. As Manticore says, i'm not one to resort to kicking unless it's really necessary, but you, like some other users who are likely to complain, don't listen to warnings given, especially from other users (i'd use ShadowyLeftHand as an example of someone who warns others). You received many warnings from other users and myself, so I decided you had be warned enough. HaloDude 18:16, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- And I was the one who did that actual banning, me and HaloDude decided together you should've been banned. And you weren't even banned for a full 24 hours, you begged me to unban you while you were in #Gruntipedia and then "praised" me when I did. --Kwarsh File:Gruntiness.jpeg|20px]][Talk to me!] - [Stuff I've done!] 20:23, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Questions
Nominee, if you accept the nomination, please answer the following questions. It is advised that voters check the nominee's responses before voting.
- When did you join Halopedia?
- May 13th of last year.
- What do you believe are your most valued contributions to Halopedia?
- Basic edits, I can't say i've done much else other than CoH work and the odd vandal revert.
- What do you believe are your most valued technical contributions to Halopedia?
- I've learned most of the wiki coding that i've needed as to date, but I can learn more I guess.
- What do you believe are your most valued contributions to the community?
- CoH work, but again, helping out on the IRC channel has been kinda important to me too.
- What is your expertise with programming languages, if any?
- I have knowledge on html and and any similar coding. So, I can help out slightly with wiki coding such as templates and such.
- Do you administrate any other Wikia? If so, which?
- I helped Sgt_Johnson with his adopted Ace Combat wiki, but I can't say I helped much, my knowledge of Ace Combat was poor.
- If you are administrated, what changes do you propose?
- Well, with the current flow of blogs and polls coming in, the first thing I would do is check over current blogs and polls to see if they meet Halopedia standards.
- To the best of your understanding, what does administratorship entail?
- The first thing i'd be is a helper to the community, but that's to the best of my understanding. ;)
- To the best of your understanding, when will you be able to check Halopedia after you are administrated, in the event that you are?
- Well, i'm on the IRC more or less every day, and I check through Halopedia at least 4 days a week.
- What communities are you associated with online, Halo and otherwise?
- Halopedia, IRC (all channels I lurk in) and MSN
- What is your familiarity with the Halo universe?
- I have all three games (Halo: CE, 2 and 3 for Xbox/360) and i've gained knowledge from the wiki.
- What is your familiarity with Wikia and Halopedia policies?
- Halopedia is the first wiki i've been a user at. As for the policies, i'm familiar with the rules, however the ones that are currently under review I obviously cannot be up to date with.
- What is your relationship with the Halopedia community and current administration?
- As far as I can tell I have a good relationship with most of the community, as for the administration? Well, I think I upset RR when I left during his Neuroscience lecture once (Sorry RR!).
- How may users contact you?
- I'm currently contacted regularly for help regarding the CoH, and I help to the best of my ability. They may contact me via:
- Covenant of Halopedia
- My talkpage
- Xbox live, after they have obtained my gamertag.
- MSN and email - vinny_zomg@hotmail.co.uk
- IRC of course, i'm regularly on there, in several channels.
