A Marine Expeditionary Force, (abbreviated MEF) is a large organization of the UNSC Marine Corps that contains at least one division-sized unit of Marines.[1]

An MEF is likely the same or similar to the Marine Expeditionary Forces of the 20th and early 21st centuries, one example of which was the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force of the US Marine Corps, who were separated into the 1st Marine Division, the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing and the 1st Marine Logistics Group, with I MEF serving as the command element. Overall, an MEF is designed to be self-sustaining and is the largest tier of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force. The MEF contains an infantry division, logistics group, air wing, and command element with all warfighting and support capabilities to operate without support from higher echelons of command. This type of unit is typically commanded by a Lieutenant General or General.
