The Sumda'te-pattern Sky Stalker[1] (UNSC Type classification: Type-36 Ultra-Heavy Siege Platform, T-36 UHSP), or colloquially the Scarab, is a Covenant quadrupedal mining platform, occasionally used as a heavy weapon platform. Type-36 Scarabs are fitted with a massive Class-4 plasma cannon. These weapons are analogous to those fitted on the Skar'wa-pattern Mantis, though they are likely a field modification.[2]
Type-36 Scarabs use a variety of different chassis designs, which rarely alters the performance characteristics of each individual vehicle. The Type-36 Scarab uses Lekgolo colonies bound together with its control systems.[2]
Production note
- According to Catalog, the Scarab that appears in Halo 2 is designated Type-36.[3] This contradicts Halo: The Essential Visual Guide as well as Palace Hotel, both of which identify the Halo 2 Scarab as a Type-47. It was later clarified that the Scarab in Halo 2 is the Protos-pattern Scarab.[2]
- Some concept art featured in Halo: The Great Journey: The Art of Building Worlds match the T-36 Scarab's description.[4]
