Production notes

"Initially designed as an alternative to the SPI armor used by SPARTAN-III operatives, the notoriously secretive Watershed group has unexpectedly revealed the HOPLITE as a low-cost Mjolnir variant optimized for pairing with UNSC pistols. HOPLITE armor lacks the bells and whistles of most Mjolnir variants, but is easy to build and repair."
Halo Online HOPLITE description

Hoplite was one of many armor sets slated to appear in Halo Online, prior to the game's cancellation. The set appeared in the game's pre-alpha and Closed Alpha, with a radical design change from the version featured in Halo 2: Anniversary. Due to the game's cancellation, the armour and its given lore are non-canon.

Trivia

A hoplite was a citizen-soldier of the Ancient Greek city-states who was armed primarily with a spear and a shield. Hoplites represent the archetypal image of Ancient Greek warriors, including the forces of Sparta.
