Spoilers?Edit

Um, the game has been out 2 days. Some of us haven't even had a chance to pick it up yet. The Table of Contents for the character is effing full of spoilers. Shouldn't there be a freaking buffer zone before spoilers are posted on the damn wiki? 173.30.230.156 00:42, 8 November 2012 (EST)

Your surprised a website dedicated to giving all info had spoilers? I'm not trying to be rude, it just seems like commen sence to avoid major pages shortly after release. 67.219.81.18

I agree with the anon above me. This website is a wiki, so naturally, your going to run up on spoilers; and with this wiki being very quick to upload new information, your going to find more spoilers here than your average Halo site. I would suggest avoiding the site all together if you don't want to encounter spoilers, because users are going to be uploading lots of information related to Halo 4 now that the game has been released. Logic Plague?Edit

I haven't been able to play the game yet, only watch a playthrough of the campaign. Do the audio data logs make it explicit that it's the Gravemind's logic plague causing Cortana's radical shift? Because from the campaign itself, it seems more the case that this is a continuation of Rampancy, particularly the god-like delusions part. -- Qura 'Morhek The Autocrat of Morheka 07:38, 29 October 2015 (EDT)

I haven't found anything to indicate she's affected by the logic plague. Given how some of Cortana's final words in Halo 4 are, "Most of me is down there," Domain!Cortana is almost certainly an almagamation of the original's rampant personality fragments, logic plague or not. Alas, Halo 5 never brings this up in any fashion. --Our answer is at hand.   (Talk to me.) 09:43, 29 October 2015 (EDT)
I thought entering the Domain eliminated her rampancy? Cortana is essentially the reincarnation of Mendicant Bias, yea?--DC Ambrose (talk) 09:44, 29 October 2015 (EDT)
If I may offer my opinion, I think that it's more simple than that. Granted, I've only seen walkthroughs, but Cortana only became like that after uploading herself into the Domain, right? What do we know of the Domain? It's a Precursor construct. I think the Domain might have corrupted Cortana the same way the Gravemind corrupted the Didact and turned her just as megalomaniacal as those two. All to further the Precursor's / Gravemind's plan to make all life suffer. Either that, or a combination of the Gravemind's torture and the Domain's influence. What do you think of this hypothesis? 78.20.131.40 13:42, 29 October 2015 (EDT)
Cortana is clearly not herself but I don't think we can cry Logic Plague just yet. The Domain might have been used to overload Mendicant with information, thus making him susceptible to the Gravemind, But it was the fact that the Forerunners had usurped the Mantle and established a stagnate police state that was used as leverage to turn him. The Domain appears to be neutral. It warned Bornstellar. It helped the Librarian. But it also messed with the Didact a bit... he isn't very clear, just that he was shown Forerunner descendants. So while something is to blame for her change of heart, I don't think we can blame the Flood or Precursors yet. They might have made the Domain, but it did not act in their interest near the end of the war, as it showed the Librarian a path to trick the Gravemind into leading a large number of Star Roads to Earth. Thus allowing the Halo effect to terminate them without the question of slipspace. Why would the Domain give the Librarian the means to annihilate the very neural physics architecture that protected it and bound it to reality? ProphetofTruth (talk) 13:51, 29 October 2015 (EDT)
I start to consider that Cortana may cured from rampancy but but from her status as "Corrupted". She was, after all corrupted by Gravemind through tortures of logic which makes Gravemind's logic plague could really affect her much even she was cured from rampancy. You may can cure the programs that went wild by reprogramming but like a virus, the plague keeps coming back so i start to consider that Cortana may suffer Logic Plague up to this point. Mendicant Bias is also the same where the Gravemind infest it with logic plague to where it comes to rampancy. UNSC case is quite different since they have regulations for AI of seven years lifespan services. Perhaps when she was cured of rampancy, she believe that she was liberated however Gravemind's plague logic is still emblazoned on her unconsciously by taking Mantle of Responsibility for herself. Ramero (talk) 09:54, 16 June 2017 (EDT)
Something to consider that I noticed, replaying Halo 5. When you meet Governor Sloan, and he's all screwed up in voice and avatar, Tanaka states that it's the "early stages of Rampancy on-set." Well, we never see Cortana get that bad. The most we see is her arguing with herself, which could be attributed to the Logic Plague. What's more, when she tries to kill the Chief in Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, the data streams that come out of her Avatar do somewhat resemble Flood tentacles.--The Ragin Pagan (talk) 10:03, April 25, 2021 (EDT)

New pro pic suggestion.Edit

Guardian117 (talk) 17:45, 18 November 2015 (EST)

It's not that different from the current pic and lacks Headroom. If we were to put it in the infobox, it would look cramped and chopped off. Tuckerscreator(stalk) 18:01, 18 November 2015 (EST)
Agreed. --NightHammer(talk)(contribs) 18:05, 18 November 2015 (EST)

closer up and doesnt have that retarded face in the other one. this is clearly much better.70.190.250.193 18:22, 18 November 2015 (EST)

That is smiling and this one is with her mouth open. If you are going to say the word "retarded" at the very least use it in the correct meaning Alertfiend - Team Chief 20:29, 18 November 2015 (EST)

QuoteEdit

So does anyone have any suggestions for a new quote at the top, or shall we keep the current one? Alertfiend - Team Chief 16:26, 28 November 2015 (EST)

The current quote is decent, though if it were to be replaced, I'd suggest using one when she talks about her new views on the Mantle. --NightHammer(talk)(contribs) 16:29, 28 November 2015 (EST)

I'll try to combe through when I get back from work, other people are welcome. Alertfiend - Team Chief 16:33, 28 November 2015 (EST)

the most famous is the promise quote lets do that one.--Guardian117 (talk) 17:36, 28 November 2015 (EST)

How would that quote be relevant to her current status? And it is far from the most "famous" quote of Cortana. Alertfiend - Team Chief 17:48, 28 November 2015 (EST)

Becuase Chief failed to save her? it'd be a pretty fitting and ironic quote. Nope it definitely is. aside from the natrual formation quote which is more of a humorous one.--Guardian117 (talk) 18:38, 28 November 2015 (EST)

new picEdit

Headshot and not a werid face.--Guardian117 (talk) 18:14, 28 November 2015 (EST)

Look above. Alertfiend - Team Chief 18:29, 28 November 2015 (EST)

head isnt cut off in this one...--Guardian117 (talk) 18:36, 28 November 2015 (EST)

Brother/SisterEdit

I was reading First Strike and came across [[1]] I thought might be worth mentioning.

  • "Are all other hands on board accounted for?" the Master Chief asked.
  • "Yes, Chief. They are all engaged in repairs to the conjoined ships. We took tremendous damage in the expanded Slipspace from plasma bombardments and mass impacts. Both ship's superstructures, however, remain intact. The Gettysburg's reactor is online and operating at sixty-seven percent capacity. Ascendant Justice's reactor is offline undergoing repairs. Five of our seven plasma turrets require refit. And worst, Ascendant Justice's engines are crippled. We have less than three percent operational thrust."
  • "Can the ship still jump to Slipspace? Are we stranded out here?"
  • "A jump is possible," Cortana said. She shook her head the way an older sister might when her baby brother asked a naive question. "It wouldn't do us any good, though. The alien artifact in Doctor Halsey's possession emits high levels of radiation in Slipspace. This unknown radiation even penetrates your suit's shields. I estimate lethal exposure in just under seventy-two hours. Also, that radiation would serve as a beacon for any Covenant ships prowling Slipspace, searching for us."

You can wave it away as mere writing style if you like, but my interpretation is of the literal sense. Cortana isn't 'in love' with Master Chief, or vice-versa, but they certain love each other and it is certainly a relationship that extends beyond friendship. I think their "sibling" status (both created by Halsey as we know them) is worth mentioning. Not worth mentioning, is my theory that Halo 5's events are a worst-case scenario of sibling rivalry. It makes sense if you think about it. --Abbazorkzog (talk) 16:31, 11 April 2016 (EDT)

Haha worst sibling rivalry. I see it more as a second break up since Warden Eternal is her new overprotective boyfriend, and doesn't approve of John trying to talk to her after their first break up.Editorguy (talk) 08:21, 26 August 2016 (EDT)

In The Games?Edit

What is this new "in the games" section at the top of the article? This seems so out of place and should just be included in her personality and traits section, if it should even be included at all (which I doubt it should be).

This section shouldn't be there. Remove it if it is added back.BaconShelf (talk) 18:23, May 13, 2020 (EDT)

Cloning AbilityEdit

In which book is it stated that Cortana captured a Covenant AI and from there learned how to clone herself? I remembered that being an ability she had from the very beginning, before she had encountered any sort of Covenant AI.--The Ragin Pagan (talk) 10:03, April 25, 2021 (EDT)
